I'm starting to have a feeling that the only devices where you can see real good fonts without some shitty gimmicks is, well, smartphones. Even devices with Retina displays running OSX have that stupid tint around them.
My font rendering is... more or less acceptable as long as you keep it all black and white, because dark grey or soft grey has a weird white tint. Also black fonts on black background render poorly for some reason.
