>Wearables
>Any year

There are already so many touchscreen devices everywhere. Already bored with the phone. Do I need yet another touchscreen device to get bored with? Already have the phone on me to do everything a smartwatch can do 10x better.

And I'd prefer not having a watch on my hand most times, when I do wear one, it's not going to be a display which lights up. It's going to be hard stuff, made of metal, with movements and stuff like that. I don't want yet another generic screen on me, let alone on the hand.

>phone in pocket
>VR headset on head
>smartwatch on wrist
>displays, displays everywhere
No, I want at least some things not to be displays.

I would also buy a hand fedora if I had money despite it admittedly being a hand fedora

I do not want a hoverboard, they are skateboards for the lazy, however they are NOT for the autismal. They are for fashion forward mall rat hype beasts. Have you been outside?
>>

That's the main problem for me as well. It'd be a nice toy, but I wouldn't do anything useful on it that my phone doesn't already do. It'd just be another distraction

Thanks anon. I have an iPhone and I don't use many apps. Plus I have yet to see anyone in public using smartwatch apps. I would guess smartwatches just don't have enough real estate to provide a decent user experience for apps/games. I just want a simple watch that I can check emails, text messages, weather, and the time.

Sounds like pebble is what I want but a lot of the reviews on Amazon show pictures of glitched out, failed pebble displays and poor customer support. But it doesn't cost what an Apple watch costs so I guess you get what you pay for. Would be nice if it came in color. Maybe I will go with Moto. Fuck I don't know.
>>
I'd get one if they were relatively cheap and had battery durations of at least a week

Zenwatch2

Bezels are fuckhuge but the price is right for what it does and the bezels disappear when the watch is in low power mode thanks to the OLED screen (aka 90% of the time you have it on)
>>
>>52490254
The Moto 360 is good, but as you're on iOS app support and even notification support could be a bit of a problem. In your situation I'd have a look at the Pebble Time Round. Colour display, round, looks pretty nice

It's a neat little watch, but I'll probably ditch it once Android Wear gets NFC payments
>>
>>52490254
Grab a time steel or round from eBay. They're all $75-150 because no one wants it
>>
>>52490254
It's fine. The glitches are occasional and rarely noticeable. Every watch is going to have a few fugged models.
Pebble time is pretty great if you're willing to fork over more money to have it not look like fisher price toy

I quite frankly don't see the point. Want a fitness tracker? Get a cheaper and better dedicated device like one from Polar or Fibit.

Then again we do live in a world where people spend 100's if not 1000's of dollars on shit like Candy Crush...

My original pebble did have a lifespan of about a year before the display got too fucked up and glitchy to use. But no other issues and I really abused that bastard, even bathing with it and whatnot. Pebble time has a completely different display, plenty of upgrades and all around looks like it will be even more conducive to my abuse. If you go pebble, get the pebble time, she's awesome! (also it has color ;) The only downside is that it's like 200. I've heard of the round, but the lower battery life kills that for me.
>>
>>52485867
My gf loves those to. She also has the womyn small golden version.
>>
>>52492636
Now that the tech is mature enough to be useful and the price is sub $200 it makes sense to grab one if you wear a watch anyways.

I find that my phone battery lasts much longer now that I read and answer most notifications and texts on my wrist and I find the ability to voice text from my wrist while driving to be very natural and convenient.

I wouldn't start wearing a watch just to get a smartwatch but if you wear one anyways why not get a bit more usefulness out of it.

Pebbles are great because they're actually good watches in general.

The screen is always on, it's easy to read, long battery life, and they can be operated without looking because they have physical buttons.

They're the Casio F91W of smartwatches -- basic, "cheap", but highly competent and will do anything the average person needs out of a wrist computer.
