It depends on what you want and what you're going to use it for to be honest.
I'd say there are five cases out there that are "the best".
>Bitfenix Prodigy
>Corsair 250D
>Corsair 240 Air
>Phanteks Ethoo Evolv ITX
>Fractal Node 804
Personally, I use the Prodigy and can tell you it's a great case if you're going to gayme. It can hold some of the bigger aftermarket coolers, but keep in mind it's going to be a tight fit.
All of them can probably fit most coolers, ATX PSUs and video cards. I have yet to read reviews that say otherwise to be honest.
I would say if you want a portable case, I'd get the Prodigy, it already has handles on it.
If you want the Prodigy without the handles, get the 250D.
If you want something a little more intricate than the 250D with better cooling, get the Air 240. Also if you want a Micro-ATX option.
If you want a budget case with really good cable management, get the Phanteks.
If you're going to watercool, you could use any, but the Node 804 is pretty well-noted for being a great watercooling case for a mini-ITX system.
All of them are good cases. Personally I might get the Phanteks as it's a little bigger than the Prodigy and putting the Prodigy together was a pain in the ass due to my big hands and the fact that I never built or handled a small form factor machine before.

I want to build a small form factor pc to use as a HTPC, local network file server, and torrent box. A normal sized mid-tower won't fit on the shelf under my TV next to my cable box but a mini-ITX / micro-ATX build will. I could toss in one of the next-gen APU's from AMD when they come out and even be able to play some older games on the TV in my living room if I wanted to as well.

Why would anyone want a computer the size of a toaster? Huge mess, bad airflow thus high temperatures and practically no space at all for expansion.
I mean sure, if you don't like computers and you just want a box that just werks, but want more than what a console can give you, then maybe I get it. But I can only see high temps and degraded parts due being in an oven-like ultraheated space all the time. The PSU at least does not appreciate it at all.
Then there are the people who actually buy nano sized cards. All that money for a card that throttles itself under load.

For a silent case it's not as great compared to an R5 or F51 at 33db vs 29db. For a gaming case it has nowhere near the airflow of the 450D which is only 1db louder. Literally style over substance.
