Is there a way to blacklist packages in Zypper/PackageKit?

For example, to prevent the utterly useless shit package K3B from being reinstalled during an update, how do I blacklist it after purging it in a cleansing light of purification?

1. if there is a mostly legit version of Lollipop android for PC, why is it so hard to install and keep stable? The computers that they've made, are they just really big tablets with USB parts and CD drives basically?

I realized that they would need ARM right?

2. On this computer I got, it's got a 120 GB drive, 10 years old but it runs ok. I'm thinking of selling it if i can. I thought I could get 50 maybe 60 out of it if im lucky. If I can't, can 2 gbs of ram run a shitty server?
>>

>a 120 GB drive, 10 years old
>I thought I could get 50 maybe 60 out of it

you wold have to find an absolute retard to get that much money out of it. it's worth five bucks at the most and even then, no one would buy a 10 year old hard drive that is about to fail in a few months.
>>
>>52416836

Nah, this computer was a biz computer so you know they didn't do shit with it. the funny part is, yes, my dad found it for 6$ at this place he works and asked if I wanted it, I said sure. I have 4 others in my room I can't do shit with and want to salvage the metals if i can. I know there's bits of gold in them right and some other elements?

also the HDD is an Sata

so does that mean something at least. It's not that I'm retarded, I just don't know when they stopped using IDE then to Sata. The drive doesn't even look past a week old

Sigh

This is probably a really retarded question with an easy answer. I have Windows 10, so far so good, but DirectX9 seems to be broken, as I always get the 0xc000007 error when trying to run certain games. It's not the game's fault, as I already installed every fucking version of DirectX and I still get those errors. Did I dun goof in some way? Can I fix or bypass this?
>>
How can I edit the names of folders and files inside a MDF image without extracting them and without making the whole image invalid?
>>
>>52417037
No. DX9 is deprecated. Either go back to Win7 or forget those games and stay in Win10.
>>
>>52417058
No way to fix it then? I also get it when trying to run Victoria 2, and I doubt Vicky 2 uses DirectX9.

Can someone recommend me the best lightweight, under 13" hybrid Laptop/Tablet for around £500?
I'm leaning towards the Lenovo Yoga 700 because it's fanless and shit and won't warm up my lap whilst I'm using it but just wondering if the performance might be a bit shit as a result. I could live with it if it's not too bad, it uses a Core M3-6y30 processor. Not really a fan of the Surface

So I want to get an unlocked BIOS to overclock my CPU through my mobo because old workstation and locked multiplier etc. etc.
I have some understanding of coding but am unable at my present skill level understand what language is it written on and such... So I am trying this mobo modding site where you put a request and your bios original file and you get modded one for free...
of course, it is surely infected badly - google shouts at the dl link for example and calls it cancer...
So my stupid question is: how do I clean the file from the vulnerability?
I am thinking of some sort of diff checker and such since I will have the original and the model file...
Oh the BIOS is a phoenix one...
any clever ideas for my stupid question?

My question is, if i were to punch holes in the bottom of the case and place an intake fan blowing directly onto GPU would that lower it's temperature a bit?

So when I started my computer today I get errors whenever I try to access my steamaccount.

>Invalid SSL Certificate

>The SSL certificate for
>insert anons inventory link here
>is invalid and the page will not be loaded.

It's the same when I try the browser and steam client.

Now I wanted to know if this was only contained to my computer. So I checked my laptop where I have another account. Sure enough, got the same error on that account. I also checked my gfs computer and her steam account but that worked without any problems. So I don't know whats wrong. Two of my accounts on different computers with different OS doesn't work (W8/10) but her computer does (W8). They're all connected to the same router.

The only notable thing that happened since yesterday was an update to W10 on my main computer this morning.

Lend me a hand guys, I don't know much how SSL certificates work or not to much about network stuff in general. I've searched around and people suggested checking my time (checked out) or looking in System32/drivers/etc/hosts but nothing there as well. Tried to disable Steam Inventory Helper and Steam Beta but to no avail.

Anyone ever encountered anything similar?

I'm maxing out his build for gaming and only gaming, since that's all he does on his computer aside from facebook shit. I don't think he'd be able to manage having all his games install to another drive. The ~500GB SSDs I was looking at were way too expensive if I want to get him a GTX 980Ti. And like I said, he plays games, so it's not like he really needs an SSD.
And yeah, I should have thought about the non-K.

>Any reason to choose H97 over Z97?
literally the price. you need Z97 combined with a "K" cpu to overclock. since you won't overclock, you don't need either of those. H97 is cheaper for that reason.

an SSD helps with loading times and often other aspects of games but you're right, it is expensive and/or low capacity, and isn't essential.

yet another thing that's not essential is a full ATX board. there are hardly any legitimate reasons to choose it over a mATX.

Your build is pants on head retarded and here's why:
>I'm maxing out his build for gaming and only gaming
>gets a non-k cpu with a Z97 motherboard, and a completely overkill and way too expensive one at that
Like other anons said, get an H97 motherboard. There is literally no reason whatsoever for you to waste that much money on a motherboard.

>Yes I know the fans are shit, but again, he doesn't care about noise and he's not going to overclock.
So why waste money on fans at all then ? The case comes with the necessary fans included.
You can also drop the CPU cooler. That CPU comes with a stock cooler that is plenty enough to keep the CPU cool.

>And like I said, he plays games, so it's not like he really needs an SSD
That is literally exactly why he needs an SSD. An SSD will shorten his load times by a lot, and will be more worth its price than that 980 Ti is over a 980. Even more so if his screen is 2560x1440 or less, as a 980 is plenty enough for this resolution.

>Single stick of 8GB RAM
Drop another one in there. RAM is cheap.
Games are beginning to require a lot of RAM, and other applications as well as Windows do as well.
8GB might be "enough" for just gaymen right now, but if he likes to use other normie software such as Chrome it won't be long until he'll start running out of RAM with just 8GB.

yes. tie all the positive fan leads together to the positive supply, and all the negative leads together to the negative supply, just like your picture.

wired in this way, the amperage from the fans will stack (0.02 + 0.02 + ...), so the total fan amps must not exceed the rating on the adapter.

Okay, that is slightly less pants on head retarded. I was responding from the index and didn't see that post linked on there.

Here's why your build is still pants on head retarded:
>wasting money on fans at all when person doesn't care about either noise or overclocking
Completely pointless. Case comes with the necessary fans included. Additionally, if you swap the case for a Corsair case you'll get actually good fans included with it. Corsair includes a stripped down "OEM" version of their own airflow fans, which are widely regarded as good fans.
These have exactly the same performance as the retail versions of the same fans, only they don't come with rubber mounts and coloured rings.

>That PSU
Is overkill. That CPU and graphics card are going to pull combined 334 watts at 100% load. 980 Ti pull 250W, and the CPU pulls 84W. The rest of the system won't add even 100W on top of that. Drop to 500W, 600W at most, just make sure it has the required PCI-e connectors and it will be fine.

>EVGA graphics card
Don't. You choose EVGA for their warranty if you're going to mount a third party cooler of some sort, and that's it. Their own coolers aren't very good (except for their "hybrid" AIO thing, but they didn't even make that, they just licensed it and slapped their brand on it) and you're better off picking a different model from a different brand.
>>
>>52418785
>Case comes with the necessary fans included.
Every case I ever bought came with like 1 fan. His current computer apparently has heat issues and the 4 pack of shitty fans is like $10, so why not? Especially when it'll have a stock cooler on the CPU.

>Additionally, if you swap the case for a Corsair case you'll get actually good fans included with it. Corsair includes a stripped down "OEM" version of their own airflow fans, which are widely regarded as good fans.
Got a case suggestion then?

>Drop to 500W, 600W at most, just make sure it has the required PCI-e connectors and it will be fine.
Sounds good. I always go paranoid when buying PSUs.

>Don't. You choose EVGA for their warranty
Well what's the brand of the month for nVidia? I'm getting him a 980Ti because he's going to be using this computer for the next 5-8 years. His current PC was built in 2010 if I remember right.
He seems interested in VR as well, but he said it's not a big deal, I'd still rather build him a computer that can do that. as well however.
>>
I saw a thread where some anon used legos to un-sag his GPU.
Should I fix the (relatively minor) sagging of my GPU with a pillar of legos? The pillar would go on top of my bottom fan, but in the middle so it does not bother the airflow.

I recently sent my university application and it gave me a warning telling me to add the university email to the safe sender list so it doesn't get moved to trash but the thing is that I'm applying to 11 universities and don't know which email the admission department will use for each of them. Is there any way I can set up a filter to move all emails with the word admission or university to a special folder and not to spam or trash? I use gmail if it matters.

>the 4 pack of shitty fans is like $10, so why not?
Because wasted money is wasted money.
>Every case I ever bought came with like 1 fan
The R4 you chose comes with two 140mm fans; One intake, and one exhaust.

>Got a case suggestion then?
Pretty much anything Corsair that fits the budget. I'm personally a big fan of the 750D, but it is a fair bit more expensive than that R4 you chose. 450D sits between the two and comes with the aforementioned good fans, so you may want to look into that one.
Maybe you can put the money you save on a more appropriate PSU and throwing those useless fans out into a nicer case.

>Well what's the brand of the month for nVidia?
MSI, Gigabyte, or Asus are generally the best choices.
>>

>Are commonly available PSU calculators accurate?
Not really, they're okay as a rough estimate but that's about as far as they go. afaik they tend to overshoot the wattage by a fair bit.

Looks good.
From what I can tell it seems that the PSU has the required power connectors, so you should be more than fine on that.

Personally I'd go with a 500GB SSD + larger HDD for storage, but that's up to the needs of the user and an HDD is easy enough to add later on anyway so whatever.

Let me try to explain this better, the device easily becomes undetected by the OS, as in the USB cable is still in the laptop but it makes that little noise when a PnP device de-syncs from Windows. I have actual headphones, and nothing is plugged into the controller, so what that ends up doing is muting my Skype sounds and calls.

When my computer shuts off it unmounts my external hard drive but it doesn't power it off, so the light on the USB drive will stay on until the moment that the power supply is cut off from the computer, at which time it will abruptly cut off from the USB hard drive as well and make a violent clicking sound which concerns me.

Is there any way I can automate the "ejection" of the drive from the computer from the command line? If I umount the drive manually it stays powered on for about 3 minutes before the light actually goes off. If I could get it to shut off immediately from the command line I would just write a script that runs that command and then the shutdown command. As it stands I have to remember to right click on the drive in my file manager and click "safely remove drive" every time I shut down in order to avoid this abrupt clicking sound from it being shut off improperly.

If you play at 60Hz at most, does IPS really lose to TN in gaming applications? Like, what's the difference? I know it's easier/cheaper to make 120+ Hz panel with TN, but if the IPS panel says the response time is 5ms or less, wouldn't that be enough for gaming at 60Hz?

I ask because I want to get a new monitor and I play fast competitive games, but capped at 60Hz. It's full of cheapish <150€ IPS panels that claim response times of 5ms or less, yet everyone still suggests TN panels for gaming in this price range.

(sorry to make a reply, I know I shouldn't bump but I feel like i didn't explain my doubts well enough)

I guess my point is, why is IPS just generally deemed worse for gaming? Is it ghosting? Because I found lots of IPS monitors that claim response times of 5ms or less which should be sufficient for 60Hz gaming. Is it input lag? Because no one releases input lag results so it's kinda hard to verify this, and if so, how much is there? Is it something else?

When people say IPS is bad for gaming they just hand wave it or add things like less refresh rate (which doesn't matter at 60Hz) or more response time/ghosting (which shouldn't be an issue with 5ms or less response times). It's all so confusing.

Suppose I encrypt a file with algorithm A and then encrypt that output again with algorithm B.
What are the security implications of this as far as decrypting this by brute force goes? Can an attacker decrypt the file at once by finding a key that's a result of combining algorithm A and B, or would they first have to find the key for B and then for A?

I'm using firefox, and while no active content is being displayed, it takes up almost no CPU time, it's like it's idling, but the moment I play any webm it immediately takes up all the available processor time. What the hell is happening?

If you don't mind the noise, sure. A little overkill, one would probably suffice.

Everyone can eavesdrop. You should assume that every major IRC server is under surveillance by somebody.
There's OTR and similar applications for IRC. You could also use an IRC server as a hidden service in Tor, I2P, etc. Of course, you still have to trust every participant of the conversation.

What stupid retard thing am I doing/not doing here? My brain is dead.
>>
Can someone help out this retard with a really easy loop? I started practicing loops and functions again to get back into recursive functions.

I'm doing the simple triangle loop but I thought it would have been nice if after the loop is finished, it would go in reverse.

for (var line = "#"; line.length < 8; line+= "#") {
console.log(line);
}

I've tried using while loop along the lines of while line.length != 1, -=.

I don't understand how this program works

#include <stdio.h>
/* count digits, white space, others */
main()
{
int c, i, nwhite, nother;
int ndigit[10];
nwhite = nother = 0;
for (i = 0; i < 10; ++i)
ndigit[i] = 0;
while ((c = getchar()) != EOF)
if (c >= '0' && c <= '9')
++ndigit[c-'0'];
else if (c == ' ' || c == '\n' || c == '\t')
++nwhite;
else
++nother;
printf("digits =");
for (i = 0; i < 10; ++i)
printf(" %d", ndigit[i]);
printf(", white space = %d, other = %d\n", nwhite, nother);
}

but mainly I don't understand why this line

++ndigit[c-'0'];

is like that and not like that

++ndigit[c];

Someone care to explain?

My 7950 makes loud buzzing noises when I play games. I tried switching to a spare PSU, and it still makes the same noises. Is it possible that the power supply I was originally using caused permanent damage to the VRMs of the card with voltage ripple, or is it more likely that the card has always had this problem?
pls respond.

Can universal docking station trough USB provide the same functionality as laptops that have integrated docking station trough SATA(?) on the back?

I currently have an older laptop that is dockable, but I wanna buy a new one and it seems most that are dockable are very expensive, so I'm thinking about buying an universal docking station trough USB so I don't have to look for laptops with this specific functionality.

Can I simply buy an universal USB docking station and it will work with any laptop to run 2x screens, mouse and keyboard?

I've heard that fresh Windows installs can get confused if you have more than one drive connected. Attach only the drive you want your OS on, add the rest later.

This true-?

>>52422967
There is no explanation to this specific line in the book. I just checked.

Currently using an FX-6100 in a 970A-G46 mobo and I need to upgrade to something that won't bottleneck a 390 and meets the requirements for the Occulus Rift (not that I plan on buying one.)
Should I just buy a 4690K and a new board?
Is there an AM3+ processor on par with the 4690K?
>>

No. It's really more of a precaution for dumb people so they don't fuck up, because it happens more often than you'd think.

looks like a weird way to implicitly convert the character into its byte-number value, so you can increment the array's spot associated with that value. This allows you to keep track of how many of any 1 character was given and easily get that value based on that character.
>>
is a GTX 960 SLI a good idea, i already have one
>>
>>52423051
not with a 4690k

am3+ single thread performance is way below a 4690k
a z97 board and an i5 will be a great improvement, it also won't be a bottleneck for a 390

Hey /g/uys and /g/als, I was wondering what I should be looking for in a hard drive to USB cable. As far I knew, there were two main drive connection slots, SATA and ATA/IDE, or something along those lines. Would I be correct in assuming that an adapter which was compatible with those types would be able to access the majority of drives? For reference, this was the cable I was currently reviewing.
