So now that the dust has settled, is Windows 10 really that bad?
>>
No, just uninstall all the metro shit and update manually.
>>
>>52410131
It's even worse than seemed at first.

Better than meme-ux or whatever the fuck it is the pedos here keep gawking over
>>
>>52410131

no I finally updated from windows 7 glad I did my computer is much faster and games run way better, plus I like the look of default windows 10 over windows 8.1 for sure, glad they went to a darker theme
>>
win10 is dog trash, stay away.

in 2023 when support for 8.1 ends, switch to linux or apple

Windows 10 is a bad version of Windows 8.1, with a smaller start screen and DX12.

Nope, just the typical memesters like to say it is.

I installed and used win 10 for a few months. I'm running Linux mint now because I don't like how much control ms has taken away from power users. When a service is locked on and the only way to turn jtv off is with a user policy you know shit is fucked up.
>>

but that's wrong, maybe when the free updates end.
>>
>>52410131
No if you don't mind advertisement in your PC
>>
Holy shit all this shilling

The answer is yes. It is really that bad. Install only if you love the NSA dick

You're too tehnologically illiterate to handle Linux is you can't fix a simple BSOD

You will never, ever see the source code. Just think of the implications of that. It invalidates any argument you can make that you know what your computer is really doing. You literally cannot prove that you have disabled all of the spying.

I just want you to consider this.

if you're looking for win 8.1 support, that is to say you need updates, know that the whole telemetry thing is getting back-ported into win 7 and 8

Its not bad at all. the people saying that linux is free dom are right, linux is flexible but it isnt any where as eye pleasing as the last two windows OS.there are things yoiu could do to prevent telemetry and update you could avoid. these people on 4chan are children who read a few linux blogs and think they know it all. theyre insecure and small minded. people who truely know linux know that its usually all about how the OS benefits you. think of it as cloths. different dress codes for different events.

Checkn your RAM or hard drive. tcpip.sys is corrupt.

But no, it's Windows, so it can't possibly be a hardware problem...
>>
>>52412782
Having seen a large portion of the Windows core codebase, I don't have any concern running it.

Also, y'all get paranoid as fuck over telemetry data for no reason. I've seen what gets sent. I deal with that system daily.

But, please, do not install or use any Microsoft products. I don't want to have to deal with your level of stupidity...

If it's that much of a good OS, why do you think MS needs to push it so aggressively?

it's free, and no matter how much you think they're "bothering you" to upgrade to it, you never are forced to install it. i can't see why anyone cares. if you're that smart you can look up how to turn the notifications off
>>
How does 8.1 compare to 10?
>>
>>52415723
Windows 10 in design is esentially a mash up between 7 and 8.1 in looks and better coded making processes faster. Unfortunately there are still a few bugs, for me whenever i right click on file the system freezes before bringing up the task menu, anyone else experience this? Also rather annoying there is some borderline spyware on their, apart from that 10 is a fairly good improvment over 7 and especially great over 8.
>>
>>52412370
>know that the whole telemetry thing is getting back-ported into win 7 and 8

You can choose not to install those updates but with windows 10 the botnet comes baked in
>>
>>52410131
It's actually even worse. People talk about spyware and ads, but even if you ignore that, W10 just doesn't feel like a finished OS. Lots of bugs, bad performance... it's beta quality and needs another year of polishing.

>>52415723
8.1 is better in every way. If you don't like the full screen Start you can install a replacement.
>>
I use Windows 10 Enterprise and Windows 10 Enterprise N LTSB (for desktop and laptop) and I like both of them very much.

Some quirks here and there, but I have had NOTHING happen to me. I read about program, drivers etc. being deleted and I wonder if we are using same OS?

So I like it.
>>
>>52410131
As someone who uses both windows 8.1 and windows 10 regularly, there are some definite improvements to windows 10 that make every day shit better. There are also some little bugs that need to be worked out. Overall, I think it is better, especially after some of the kinks get worked out. A nice thing about windows 10 is that they significantly improved scrolling system wide (ie you scroll what your mouse is over instead of the selected window) but the seldom random explorer crashes are really fucking annoying, especially while copying files.
>>
>>52416025
>scrolling

8.1 has that too, it's just a hidden setting. Not a problem to have that on 7 either.
>>
>>52416080
My experience with both operating systems is from work where the machines are (generally) locked down. I can get past that since I have admin rights (help desk) but just because I can change a setting does not mean that by default I can see the setting.

And either way it was an example.

Win10 is a bad version of Win8.1.

It has a small Start Screen(bugged since February 2015 btw), not a menu, and almost zero changes apart from the fact that it almost forces you to use a M$ account on your system and the control panel is crippled.

The only advantage Windows 10 have is DirectX 12, which is why we are all hoping on the success of Vulkan API.

Would there be any way to pin programs to the start menu the way Windows 7 did it? I don't want to make my start menu any wider.
>>
>>52411595
I know that feel. I switched too. It's not so much that Windows 10 is terrible. rather that it reminded me why I don't want to use Windows in general.
>>
>>52415079
Except they keep moving the goalposts and making it increasingly difficult to disable.

Sure, you *can*, but it's not like MS aren't trying really hard to make people upgrade.
>>
For what?

Windows is just another console, most of people that use windows aren't doing anything productive.

It makes your computer a better Xbox, but that's about it.
