You bought a Noctua fan but you cheaped out on PSU? Next level of faggotry.
>>
>>52391039
The PSU was free
The Noctua cooler (with fan) cost me $25 shipped off ebay

Also, old Enermax PSUs were solid

Got a 3.16GHz Xeon for $26 shipped, adapted for LGA775, am running at 3.8GHz on 1600MHz FSB
case was free
MoBo with 8GB RAM was $60
Video card was $50

So yeah, its not even a $200 computer
>>
>>52391140
Cool but I would still buy a quality PSU. Nothing fancy just 400W from a respectable manufacturer.

4790k and two 390's in crossfire.

was extremely powerful, but the 390's produced so much heat and put out a nasty ozone smell that would fill up my room. so i replaced them with a single 980 ti and upgraded to skylake since i was at it.

>>52391599
Looks pretty neat but two fans in that configuration is weird to me. It would just increase noise without doing much about cooling is what I think, because the flow created by one of them is going to be choked by the other and if you push one harder the other is going to choke the other end. There is no escape for air in between either, can you confirm it actually improves?
>>
>>52395105
wut

generally push/pull is a minor improvement, it does more for air cooling I think.

also it looks cooler
>>
>>52395136
I'm thinking about the case when 2 series fans, each operating at same speed blowing through a tube from both ends, and the air flows at the same speed unless the tube is very long that the flow is disturbed somehow.

got some standoffs (female on both ends), screwed through existing cutouts. they were square, so I positioned MoBo and video card, then superglued it all in place. After the glue dried I removed MoBo and superglued that side. Basically it now has standoffs in the proper locations and ATX boards will go right in normally.

Everythings aligned well and the glue is all holding up so Im satisfied

you don't need to counter fans. also, if you have more exhaust flow than intake flow, which is your case, you'll have a negative pressure within the case, so dust will tend to get sucked through unfiltered holes/spaces/cracks in your case. if you have only filtered intake fans, you can cut down on dust, power consumption and noise. the positive pressure will then tend to push air out of those unfiltered holes, preventing dust from getting in. if temps get too high, then put one exhaust fan in the back.

Right now I'm using my backup computer because my big rig's motherboard is RMA'd. It's a bit messy since I had to fiddle with the hard drives and didn't have time to organize everything neatly. The case is okay for what it is, but it's poor for cable managing. And it isn't helped by the non-modular PSU.

Most old Soundblasters are useless (at least in Windows) because Creative does not bother updating their drivers for newer OSes. It's a shame, because they sound great.

Even a great card like the SB Live!, that you can get from Thrift Shops or out of old Dells and Compaqs, just will not play nice with Win7 no matter what you do, especially the OEM cards.
There are some independent efforts to make these cards function with custom drivers, but they still have shit compatibility.

I was going to comment that's a pretty nice case but then I noticed it's the same as mine, just yellow.

I don't think your top fan is needed with your cooler arrangement. I think your cable management is neat, but the one leading to your graphics card can deal without that little bend with the sheathing. Please avoid taking images with bright background sources of light to focus more on the internals of your pc. I like your psu cover.

I think you should turn those fans around so that their cables are not visible. A few of your cables are bundled and are a bit of a mess, but there are worse examples. Try running more of the cable through the back, that may help with length management.

You're a faggot if you think you need new drivers instead of the Windows's out-of-the-box ones. They sound great with the WDM driver. Windows or Linux.

depends of the onboard chipset, some AC97s are decent, Realtek ones are getting better and better, on an old PC yeah it would make it.

Great assembly and recycled case, looks cool and is efficient use of money. Rest of the thread mostly fancy ricer shit, today's hardware is way too much about look.

>>52406495
Now that is/was a nice hardware.

Inspired by this thread, I went and did some cable management. I think it came out pretty good considering the case has virtually no support for cable management.

I think my next project is either to replace the case entirely or get rid of that lower HDD rack in order to provide better intake airflow.

What do you think, sempai?

Does the mobo tray not have any holes around it for cable management? Feel free to take out the hdd rack, as long as you don't have massive weights on the 5.25" bays above. Find a way to get rid of those loops you have coming from the PSU. Find a way to deal with the excess length instead of looping it wildly. If you can still hide things behind the mobo tray, there are those stick-on loops for cable management. At least you have sheathing for most of your cables. Front panel wiring should be easy to hide due to how thin the cable are. If you are going to take a picture, avoid obstructions like trays and racks so that more of the wire-consumed space and cable management options are visible.

If you're going for the DIY side of things, feel free to make slots on the mobo tray for wiring. If you are going for a new case, plan ahead and take down your current equipment and measurements. Measure twice, cut(or in this case, buy) once.

On that note, my package of 200 cable ties should be here tomorrow.

No, the motherboard has absolutely zil. It's also quite narrow so there's no hiding wiring behind the tray like it's possible to do with other cases. This one is bulging just a little because I had to hide the wiring behidn the small space behind the upper HDD rack.

I think the lower rack isn't a structural item, it has a few rivets and folded metal to keep it in place. Doable with some small grinding tool.

In that case, jam as many wires as you can into one of your 5.25" bays, between something solid, such as a cd drive and the top of the case. Should you do so, make sure you have everything that leads into it nice and tidy in a bunch. I think what you did to the rear wiring with the PSU is an appropriate and necessary measure for your case, but requires a bit more pushing in if you can.. Minimize the amount of areas with wires coming in and out of the mobo.

All the best for your cable management adventure, anon.

I like it a lot. Please post details. Is any of it custom? More pics?

im pretty poor. only thing i paid for was the PSU (bought brand new online). threw it in an old Compaq Presario Pentium 4 tower just for shits. The other insides are mostly from an old eMachine (Athlon II X2 220, 3 gigs of ram, hard drive and optical drive), and the video card as well came from the same one who gave me the eMachine, but it was in a half height case and couldn't use it. I'm in the process of upgrading it (GPU - Gigabyte R7 250, then 8 gigs of Ram, then CPU - Phenom II quadcore AM3). I'm on a budget, but i think i could make a bit of a potato masher. But right now, i'm a poorfag.
