Recommend me a good microphone to do voiceovers and whatnot. Been looking at a AT2020. I'll be plugging it into a Steinberg UR22 Mk II. I want a desk stand for it too. The USB AT2020 comes with a nice little tripod but can't find it separate anywhere and it's not included in the standard passive AT2020 version. Any other worthwhile options or recommendations of how to mount the mic?

I fit into that category. What makes the 2035 better for male voice? I'll be fiddling around with DSP on my computer's end anyway so extended and preferably linear FR with little self noise as possible is what I want.

K612 is slightly more neutral in the sub-bass region, but K702 has a detachable cable. They both might need an amp (K612 is slightly less sensitive) but they're not as power-hungry as most "audiophiles" say. They're both great headphones.

X2 probably? There's not too many options with that price and requirements. HD6xx have a ton of impedance around 100Hz so you need an amp for better bass, the K7 series are not bassy, and DT880-32 is not worth getting and the high impedance versions need an amp obviously.

400i has very flat bass, so not sure if it would please a basshead and you would have to hope for a sale at $300 again.

The way Amazon works is that vendors for a product share the same product page, so whoever created that page first wrote the description when it may not apply to every seller.

Well, I have a little firsthand experience uploading products on Amazon, and I did have to make duplicate pages when some idiot put in stuff in the description that was specific to them.

Amazon is kind of sloppy aside from pages for big, popular products that they sell themselves.

I guess if it's sold by Amazon it must be real? This page doesn't even show a seller and is just listed as sold by Amazon.com.ca corp or some shit.

>>
>>52384217
Why would there be fakes for the A151? The Pistons are both made in China and have a much bigger reputation, so obviously a bunch of fakes pop up for those.

Keep in mind that the ear fit on A151 can be finicky and needs the right tips for a seal, or you get no bass.

Then the HD650 would probably be the best choice for a bassy headphone in that range.

>>
>>52384619
At the transducer's resonant frequency(where impedance spikes) you need less power to play loud. Around that area the headphones will play the loudest if the Zout is high relative to the headphone's nominal impedance and it's also the point where you get the best electrical damping.

>>52384678
>Some people were sayhing they aren't really that different. Is that true?
Yes.
>>
Maki edition /hpg/ when?
>>
>>52384725
>you need less power to play loud

Yeah, which is why I thought people tend to complain about boomy and uncontrolled bass for Sennheisers if you have the wrong source for them, since 598/600/650 all have that impedance spike.
>>
>>52384548
>bass sensation slider
>is it just an EQ?
Tactile transducer. It's a bass shaker thing.

>>52384619
>I would think 500 ohm at 100 Hz would not play well unamped.
That would be incorrect. The impedance hump is the easiest part to power, with phase angle at zero and minimized current draw.
Highest impedance at frequency means that the driver is particularly given to motion at that frequency, its resonant frequency. The impedance hump is from the current generated in opposition to the driver motion in a magnetic field, and impedance in defined as opposition to input current into the load(driver).

>>52384725
>it's also the point where you get the best electrical damping
Also not how that works. Voltage division yes, but not the damping nonsense.

I've got $150 allocated to spend on some headphones, spending less does not bother me as long as it works for what I need.

Extreme sound isolation and comfort, I play drums and need to be able to hear a metronome/click track through my headphones while not ruining my ears with cymbal crashes.

I have HD 558s for music and have tried v-moda lp2s as well, both are very nice. I'm not sure how isolating the lp2s are as I only had them for a day and never drummed with them.

Thought this would be the best place to ask, I just bought a pair of Sony MDR 7506s, only problem is, when I move/tilt them I can hear something small rolling/moving inside them. I don't notice anything wrong sound wise but I don't want to wait for fucking ages to send these back to get a replacement, it's really fucking annoying because if the volume isn't up high and I tilt my head I hear what sounds like a tiny ball bearing or something rolling around inside the driver/cup area, but since it's against my ear it's very annoying.

Anyone know what it is and is it an indication something is damaged inside?

Velour or leathery pads on closed headphones?
>>
>>52392267
They're fine, most people just stick with the Olives.
Westone Star or Comply T100/Premium as possible alternatives.

>>52392448
XPT100, maybe.

>>52392340
Preference is to DT 880, since it doesn't have quite the substantial treble that makes the 990 so much more...difficult to tolerate.
DT 880 isn't exactly treble shy either, but 990 is more likely to go past most tolerance range here.
990 has a boosted midbass giving it a V-shaped sound profile.
>>
>>52392247

Those xpt100s seem good for the price but everyone recommends in ear monitors. I know this is a headphone general, but does anyone know anything about in ears for drumming? For isolation, in ears under headphones/earmuffs are the ultimate solution. Never tried drumming specifically.

Shure and Etymotic are the go to for isolation. The tips are a decent factor in their high isolation though.

My K550's were my main headphones for about a year. They are great headphones, very spacious and sound great, however they're extremely bulky to lug around outside your house. Only downside is they lack removable cable.
If you want inside headphones get the K553, if you're looking for something to take on the go consider the M50x or another small form factor headphones with detachable cable.

Besides inserting into ears? Nothing else to it, just pick a tips for comfort and isolation.

>>52393328
>Does it matter if I spend more?I am looking at the Fiio E6, is this good?
-Is it too quiet?
-Is the output impedance too high (fixable by equalization)?
-Is there noise/EMI or hiss to it?
-Does it sound distorted as you start to crank up the volume?
If the answer is no, then that is your answer.

>Or is it just a few mundane features?
Basically, but some people may not think them mundane.

>>

>does an amp really preserve clarity?
A well built audio amp does. The purpose of an audio amp is to only affect signal level, and you can do this well enough with a headphone load for not too much cost.
The checklist from before is a summary of how the audio quality can be affected.

What's a DAC supposed to do? I don't get it.

I've seen multiple pages that says "it turns 1s and 0s into analog signals" but isn't that what computers do already? They take ~350 to 758 thousand 1s or 0s per second to measure the amplitude and then turns that into a signal that it sends to speakers/headphones/whatever. I get that it's imperfect and can distort audio, but how does converting a distorted audio feed into something else somehow make it better?

Is it just another meme like gentoo?

It's the same headphone aside from the mod/resonator thing. Who knows if(or when) someone manages to design a mod which is more effective than what Sennheiser made for the HD 800S at reducing the 6kHz peak. EQ does the same thing but more effectively.

>>52396688
Well as you probably are going to be using the mic with your computer, you need a microphone preamp and an ADC with a suitable connection for your PC(like USB). Interfaces generally have these built in and they are fairly affordable. You can of course use the ADC line in on your motherboard if you just have a preamp but most Integrated line in jacks are terrible. Up to you.
