let's start with a question of mine;
I'm still in school, but I want to start working while in school, what can I replace my PHP knowledge with?

what are the eziest design tools?
>>

Learn Javascript and learn a proper PHP framework like Laravel or Phalcon. You should probably get some experience with NodeJS too, while you're at it. When you've mastered those, you can start working as a freelance webdev.

Is ricky gervais teaching me mysqli oh PHP? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HQOS3V9nyEQ

Is Ruby on Rails worth learning?
>>
Is there any reason why I shouldn't throw out all the % based values on my CSS sheet and start using vw and vh instead?
>>
is there hope for me if all I wanna use for backend is Java?
>>
>>52380839
Everything is worth learning because by knowing more you have more options and chances.
Since you can make anything with anything(methaphore) in today's world it all comes down to:
1)What you personally like.
2)If it is a big serious project demanding performance at scientific precision then you pick something that is better at doing some job than other thing (usually by a fractal).

I dont know if this is the right place to post this but I have a Idea in mind, that would automate part of my browsing habits so I have more time to shitpost here on the 4chan

how is it possible to write a webcrawler that identifies certain elements (new threads here in the catalog section) on a website and writes the contents to a file.

I am currently learning java and thought this might be a greate little project to test my skills
>>
>>52381229
it's not so bad with a decent VM desu

>>52381334
I dont understand this, you want to test your skills and programming logic yet you ask us for the help? I dont want to sound rude and edgy but for your own good is better to think about it alone while exploring capabilities of java from your sources where you learnt it or the internet.

how to start making websites for money?
any advice or expierience?

Luck. You find one client. You treat him real well. You keep working for client. Client bring you more clients. You treat the new clients really well. New clients bring you more clients.

Pretty much my life right there.

Is this statement true or false:
>Front end programming and coding is less of a hustle then back end or /gpt/ and programming in general. It has more to learn, but the learning curve is easier to overcome.
>>
>>52381611
How much time do you need, if you succeed from start. How much time did you spend before it begin to be rewarding ?
>>
>>52381611
how to find a client?
>>
>>52381680
Well, I started back 2000 when I was 10. Golden era for web dev. You could easily find clients on webdev forums.

>>52381720
Find webdev forums that has a "Marketplace" section and look for any kind of website related work there. Don't do it over-cheap and even if you do make your client think you actually charge high but you are doing him a favor or something.

Say the job you get involves fixing some javascript then do that well and make sure your client is happy. Then try suggesting him stuff like how you could help make his website fast and shit. Depends on what you do.
>>
>>52381943
I know some html and css. now I'm learning javascript.
didn't ever made a website for a client. I don't really know how much should I charge and what kind of websites should I do at first.
>>
>>52382072
Do hourly. Really easy.
>>
>>52382072
I am feeling in a good mood so I am giving you all the good advice I can get.

Take risk. If a client is asking you to do something that's beyond (not far beyond) your skills, take the job! It will force you to learn whatever it is that is beyond. I have been doing that all the time. I have spent more time working and less time learning. And you get really good experience from such risky jobs.
>>
>>52380175
That's an impressive cosplay.
>eziest
Easiest to get started with? A text editor that understands and completes HTML out of the box like Sublime Text 3.
>>
>>52382301
thanks man. I quit my old job now and am NEET for a while. I just need to start somewhere and that's the hardest step for me
>>
>>52381229
Yes. Java is actually quite decent for webdev. It's like a faster, memory-hugrier Go with generics. DropWizard in particular is a top-tier framework for JSON APIs.
>>
>>52382332
>faster than Go
>>
>>52382393
Yes, it is. Go's compiler just isn't as good.
