390 is about equal price to 970 but will have more dx12 and vram. 970 is for people like me with small psu's and only one monitor.

you sure about that? i've owned both a 390 and a 970 and can safely say the 970 produced way less heat and never required an audible fan setting unless i was utilizing it 100% with hashcat or similar tools. on the contrary, the 390 needed a fan profile that took it to 100% fan speed under gaming load and overclocking resulted in temps that needed >50% fan speed even at idle

I have two 970's in SLI, never encountered any problem with games, I'm able to max out ANY game I play. Currently only playing GTA5, the Witcher, and GTA 5.
