So what are you doing with your 6 year old netbook?
>>52353535
But it is Sony so it is ok
Can't decide between ftp server or web server, otherwise I have absolutely no use for it even tho xubuntu and arch + xfce run perfectly fine on it.
Simple low-power fileserver running under my desk
I still have this one but i dont know what to do with it.
mostly rollercoaster tycoon, but starcraft does work
>>52353535
Oderclock it, plug it in your TV and use it as steam streaming box
How will RemixOS perform on a netbook?
>>52354877
trying it out now but it doesnt seems to boot
>>52353788
Basically the same thing, except with music server and chatbot servers.
>>52354293
Holy fuck I want some pics
>>52354293
Where can I cop one, senpai?
Was running arch + xfce used it for bedside media player and irc, got really bored one day and put 7 on it, then updated to 10, holy shit what a mistake that was. Went back to 7, not much better but at least it's usable. Haven't bothered to reinstall arch but that's obviously the next logical step. /coolstory>
>>52356984
>Music server
You mean like mpd?
>>52353535
MSI U-100 with 21" 1080p monitor.
Installed lubuntu, add Chrome and giving to relative as mostly idiot proof facebook machine.
The OS base 140/170mb ram use actually allows this 2008 netbook to be useful.
>>52353535
Im still using a 10 year old toughbook cf-18 to browse the web
>>52353535
nothing, I don't buy shitty netbooks
>>52353535
Using it for simple every day tasks. Occasionally playing around with puppy Linux.
>>52353535
I contemplate what to do with it, as I used to use it for Kali, but I couldn't into reaver for shit
>plex server
>transmission server
>couchpotato
>sonarr
>VPN server
>ftp server
>host a website
>telegram bot
First gen mobile i3 4gb of ram old laptop under windows server 2008 r2 everything runs flawlessly
You mean my 0 year old macbook?
Shitposting on /g/ while taking a shit.
>>52353535
>hp mini 1010 fits perfectly in my winter overcoat pocket
>use to receive and send emails
>>52362394
OK I feel guilty I lied, I haven't set up email or VPN yet :/
>>52353535
sell it, get a nice HP micro terminal instead, then use it as a server.
laptops are not designed to work 24/7, mainly because of heat slowly killing the battery and the hdd, also they're loud
>>52362556
Cant care less about the battery but elaborate on hdd
They use standard 2.5 inch drives ,how can 24/7 operation damage it more then it does with usual workflow
>>52362619
consumer grade 2,5 inch HDDs are NOT designed to work 24/7, believe me. I've tried using them in corporate environment in micro servers and they usually die after couple of months of usage. 2,5inch SAS drives is a different story.
>>52353535
Still using it.
I run OpenBSD and use it for when I need a smaller laptop, better battery life, or both
Popped in an SSD, it came with a 3G card, and I swapped the Wi-Fi card for an mPCIe to PCIe adapter
>>52353535
sold it to poorfags
swaped mine for a Elitebook 8470p and gave the old one to my mother.
VPN
BBC, Amazon TV
Emails
Office
before that I used it for indiegames, movies, tv, vpn, mail, uni
If I my mom doesn't need it for a while I put some Linux on it to make it faster. Windows 7 just seems too slow atm
>Asus 1215B rev 2 - best Netbook made!
Heya g, I'm looking for a cheap laptop for the sole reason of playing dwarf fortress.
So bad graphics, bad battery, good cpu and good display
Any ideas come to mind?
Never had one.
>>52363176
What do you mean by "office"
>>52362683
I'm using mine for arroud 3,5 month now , still works fine for me
>>52353535
I have a 10+ year old laptop. I only use it to operate an old scanner+printer combo which only have software for XP.
>>52354293
That looks like it would be really comfy in bed, late night
sitting in a shelf doing nothing because the fan doesn't work consistently and I don't like house fires
>>52363352
Some of the older HP envies might have what you want, it's worth having a bash at refurbished units on EBay
>>52363352
Does it have to be a laptop, cheap used desktop seams more bang for buck
My 5 and a half years old vaio works great, never had to take it to the shop, even battery runs for an hour.
>>52353788
>>52353535
Sold it not too long after i got it so i could get something, useful. The mighty HP 2710P
