There is no better display than e-ink. If there was a smart phone with e-ink display they could sell it for a premium because it's a better display.
as someone who's done reading on both a fairly nice looking smartphone and an e-reader, i can say that the e-reader definitely looks nicer. It's not nearly as harsh in the dark environments I tend to read in, and is also a lot more visible in bright environments like the porch. Also, what the fuck kind of phone are you carrying that's the size of a god damn e-reader?

The displays on e-readers are specifically designed for text and they excel at text.
