Hey /g/, I'm looking for an HD CRT TV for my ps3 and older consoles (and possibly ps4 if I get one). My question is do 720p / 1080i CRT tv's have input lag? I remember reading somewhere that some HD CRT TV's have input lag and that to get rid of it you have to change some post process settings in a service menu.

Also on a side note I'd be completely willing to play on a CRT monitor but from all the research I've done there seems to be no way to get ps3 to look good and output anything over 480p on a CRT monitor.

Probably not any worse lag than a standard LCD HDTV, if any.

Well one of the reasons I want a CRT is the basically zero input lag. I know your typical SD 480i CRT's have basically zero input lag, if I could get 720p or 1080i with zero input lag and CRT contrast and colors I'd be pretty damn pleased.

Just get a nice LCD HDTV.

CRT TVs are deprecated, and the cost of ownership and initial cost of purchase is too high to justify it. Picture quality is worse, and you would be limited to 720p.

You can pick them up practically for free on CL.

Nigger what. You can get SD and even HD CRT TV's on craigslist for like $30-50 or for free, same goes for pawnshops, goodwill, salvation army, recycling centers, etc.

For consoles all I need is 720p / 1080i anyways

Shit tier SD TVs yes.

2005 called.

Also a quick question about converter boxes (like a component to VGA box) do these things add any input lag? Because since I have decent CRT monitors laying around I could just use them with a component to VGA converter for my ps3 if there's no added input lag.

What? Even ps4/xbox one have games running at sub 1080p and barely any ps3/360 games even run over 720p, speaking strictly consoles there is no reason other than weight / size convenience to get a 29ms+ input lag ridden LCD over an HD CRT.

Weight/size convenience is enormous here though, especially when talking about HD CRT sets and considering most of /g/ is young men.

The young men comment meant to refer to size of living space, if it wasn't clear.
