That's not true, awesome 3 breaks configs with minor point releases because they change their whole fukken API or drop features/libraries on a whim. I can rice awesome but awesome 2 was way nicer.
Also functionally speaking the autist desktop you guys always fap to is pretty close to how I set up awesome whenever I use it, ahoka just chooses tiny hax0r fonts and makes literally all his programs use like 2 colors which I think is retarded. He has to rice every website he goes to or it all looks out of place. Also his wallpaper looks like ass (in a bad way).
He does a good job creating a unified and cohesive desktop but it's only unified insofar as the tiny subset of proggies he uses. Bring in something like Spotify for example and his whole desktop would look silly. In my mind a good desktop can accommodate progs that don't all look exactly the same
