It's nice when it's clean and new but once it gets shitty after it rains and stuff it's horrible. I can't imagine it being very easy to clean after it's been there like 5 months collecting rainwater. That collection tray or whatever must be super shitty. How to you clean that when you like far from everything? You can't use a hose or anything. The idea is nice but I just see this being very impractical. There's a reasons houses are bigger than an oversized egg.
Now if you could attach this to some kind of a zeppelin like balloon that has enough lift to keep it afloat, it would be neat as fuck to have it follow you when you're trekking in the mountains or wilderness. Maybe the battery and solar panel technology don't allow it now, but in 10 to 20 years it could be possible for the solar panel roof to collect power and store it in efficient and lightweight battery pods that power some kind of a heater that keeps the balloon filled with hot air. It wouldn't need some kind of special gas inside, so you don't need to deflate it. Even if it gets some kind of a cut, it won't lose vital gases like helium, instead you can patch it (or it might patch itself) and it will gain lift again once it heats up the balloon. It could even go as far as providing lift for your travel gear, either by hooking onto your backpack and pulling it up to decrease the weight on your shoulders or it could carry everything. Might as well have some sensor that makes it able to follow you as you walk.
Whenever you need your egg pod cleaned or serviced, you just heat up the balloon and walk to a nearby town or settlement and have it cleaned. That would work.
If anyone in /g/ could it their fat ass in this thing, probably, too bad there would be no room for their riced out lelnix desktop.
