When will you make the switch? What's holding you back?
>>
Nothing, already switched and glad for it... can't wait for more customization abilities.
>>
No extensions.

Looks interesting though.
>>
>>52215340
Isn't vivaldi still not fully free?

Why would I want a chromium mod by devs who will only show source code of old releases only?

no

when it goes out of the beta I will go for full on switch

I tried going for switch already, but there was still some bugs I discovered in the first day

You can use chrome extensions, but it's a little hacky way to do it.

It's just a laggy botnet.

OP here I'm testing it out now and it seems ok but the UI is a big laggy, is this just how NodeJS works? Apart from that it loads faster than the firefox variants I've tried (developer, palemoon, cyberfox)

>>52215436
Are they planning their own extensions?

And, like most WebUI-based applications, it uses foreign design language that would work in a vacuum, but doesn't integrate well into any OS it runs on.

It's literally just the Chromium engine with a custom UI on it.

Using it since late november(when FF announce it was being stupid).
I didn't like it at first, but it's coming around. At least they added a setting to remove the 1~3px space at the top of the browser which didn't allow you to click tabs.

>implying most extensions aren't already built in features for Vivaldi

Researcher here, I use Vivaldi exclusively at work because of being able to take notes on various things while I browse. Handy as fuck to have my notes right on the webpage when I need them... Like when a page looks like it may have data I need and it doesn't, I can leave notations that it's useless. Or I can annotate the bits that matter to come back to them later. Seriously best browser for research ever.

you talk about chrome?
cause whole point of vivaldi is to be more customizable and feature rich than chrome/chromium/opera/yandex/...

considering you can put tabs on the side, or customize mouse gestuers, have sidebar with notes and mail client,...
well for not being out of beta its pretty nice on feature and customization front
>>
>>52215848
not nearly as customizable as firefox
>>

Yes, but I was cured of it when I finally decided to ditch Firefox, unlike many of you which still use it for no good reason.
>>

but also more customizable than chrome, ie, edge, new opera.

I tried it, and while it looks like it's going to be a good Chrome alternative, you can really tell that it is in beta. Also, it looks infinitely better than Chrome, but as far as I know it doesn't have the same amount of customization as Firefox, as in custom browser CSS and whatnot, which is pretty much what makes me go back to FF every time I try a new browser.
>>
>>52215340
I am using Yandex Browser, which allows me to use Opera and Chrome extensions and also customize some parts of the layout

Yes that's Opera's main feature: it was bloated as hell. It was for people who wanted to do literally EVERYTHING in their web browser, all you had to do was install Opera and every net-related need would be covered. The only thing that still does that is Seamonkey which is still lacking in some departments.
>>
>>52216436
It's installer was 9mb if I remember correctly how is that bloated my man? Vivaldi for comparison is like 40 mb installer.

You're either too old to know that flash is deprecated, or you're too young (possibly underage) that you still play games on websites, or you're just retarded and/or too young (possible underage), that you watch porn/videos/anime/whatever on sites infested with malware.

>When will you make the switch? What's holding you back?

Played around with it for a bit. Excluding a few missing features that they'll probably add before the first stable release, I like it. That being said, I probably won't use it until it's fully open source.
>>
Have they come out with a reason they aren't doing open source? Just seems so stupid this day and age.
