Is it only in Korean? I might actually try it out to see if it helps to improve my Korean.
Is there any problems or vulnerabilities with using it?
>>
>>52179613
I would suggest a VM.

Watch the 32C3 vid first. I think there is also a presentation from 31C3.

As far as I know it is only in Korean

Interesting stuff
>>
>>52179651
Cant find the presentation from 31C3

Will watch the one from 2015 though. Cheers

Looks like Windows Vista. Why would you subject yourself to such torture?
>>

It looks nothing like Vista. Watch the video, then have a play with it.

This is a real piece of work.

Nope. That much is obvious
>>
Downloading now.
Will watch the video after I install it. I am not going to worry about the VM. I will just install it on a live pc here. I dont give a shit.
>>
I'm pretty curious, couple of questions.

What's it based off of custom Linux, Ubuntu base? *BSD?

Also does it route web browser traffic with North Korean servers? Possible to access their in-house social media clones with this?
>>
>>52180108
Its a Linux derivative that in someways makes the desktop look like a Mac. I am not certain what specifically it is based on (this might have been mentioned in the presentation but I do not remember).

Dont know the answer to the 2nd question either. Would be interesting if it did, but I would not be surprised if it did not.

>But the really intriguing aspect of Red Star 3.0 — a vast change from Red Star 2.5, which mimicked Windows XP — its ability to watermark any files uploaded to the system from storage devices or USB sticks, allowing the OS to trace where those files have been offline.

LOL. I saw this in the presentation. Its nuts.

Also, you can get root access on it but there are still elements that root cannot even touch.

OP here. Thanks. I had a look for the other video. I could have sworn it was at 31C3 but I must be wrong. Will keep looking though.

I did find a BBC news article from 2010 when this thing was finally outed.

D-do you get put on a permanent watchlist for DLing this?

It has some sort of metadata signing system which appends tracking to all the files within the filesystem. It's pretty primitive in terms of tracking.
>>
>>52180864
No idea. Just use a vpn.
>>52180884
Yep, its pretty cool to see it in action.

>Literally using a botnet
If you really hate life just use Gentoo, but god not this shit. It's made by the Korean government! A communist state and worse country in the world! It literally sends all data to the NK government, and this is coming from the same faggots that say that chrome and windows is a botnet.
>>
Clone of OSX. And it watermarks all files it comes in contact with.
>>

Am installing just as an experiment, that is all. No way would I use this as a main OS
