I am aware. The URL bar does not provide google autocompletion, nor does it allow saving of previous searches without cluttering up URL history. I used to have it disabled for a longtime.

It can be enabled, but still search suggestions don't come up unless there aren't any related URLs there first. Meaning if I want to get auto completion on something rather unspecific, all my browsing history clutters it up.

It's really not a big sacrifice to make, having the searchbar. You're not going to run out of urlbar typing space and the margins look fine IMO

Slightly riced I guess, I removed borders from my xfwm theme and edited the top pixel of the titlebar.

The wallpaper actually matches my theme perfectly. I couldn't change the battery so I just got rid of it. And normal is technically bad in my opinion, but I just don't want to run Linux on this thing. Otherwise I'd be torn between MATE and KDE desktops

I don't know anon, normal is better than the usual situation when it comes to windows after 95/NT/98SE/2000/Vista: completely fucked. Just do little tweaks you think will let you personalize and use the OS better while doing stuff on it.

shell32.dll

I did the whole takeownership etc

Renamed shell32.dll to shell32.dll.original

Attempted to copy the modified shell32.dll, but it refused to copy.

No idea what was wrong, attempt several more times, etc

No solutions available, turn to command prompt to force it to copy. No dice

Disable UAC, no dice.

Fuck it, restart

Hit button

>Oh wait, I forgot... Without shell, I can't login...

Already hit restart, so now I'm fucked

Try to login, no shell, no desktop (of course)

Reboot with command prompt, try to copy files, no dice

Fuck it, go to Ubuntu MATE for help, copy everything because Linux doesn't need no stinking permissions from Windows, fix everything, finish copying all my theme files, yada yada yada

And here we are. With Placebo Ashtray theme

That must have sucked. Should have checked under the permissions tab if you had full control first, and edit permissions if you couldn't copy. Takeownership as a registry edit doesn't always work properly because, well, windows.

What were you trying to do in shell32? I only had to fiddle with shellstyle.dll.

Something similar happened to me while running Ubuntu. Made a FF shortcut on the desktop, had something like
