tl;dr it's not 7 related, maybe you need better drivers

Have you set your advanced system settings to custom? You can disable most animation fluff, but leave aero on, see if that helps.

Also how much system RAM? Whats your pagefile look like? Drivers all up to date? Aero shoudlnt be causing issues like that

my 5450 (way slower than your card) has no problem with dual screens and windows 7.

eventually you can try windows 8. windows 10 offers literally zero (0) improvements and a whole lot of botnet that cannot be disabled.
