The 'consumer data' bubble is going to pop soon. Trust me on this one. Consumer data is over-valued and once people realise that it isn't actually worth that much money, the industry will shrink. You can see the symptoms- they want to save money by hiring indians.
This shows that they don't care about the code that is made, causing data to be more vulnerable. Systems will be weaker, fraud and such will explode with the readily available consumer data from the holes poo in loo code.
The devaluing of data will also cause this data to be secured less. Why spend money protecting something that's not very valuable?
Data will be leaked like no tomorrow, poor coding practices will be blamed, and so long as you can survive 10 years without reliable employment, you will be headhunted for your skills when the winds shift to making code secure by law, as the anarchy of data availability unfolds.
