I guess that if you have a really shit tier monitor that barely has the functionality to calibrate they could be usefull

>$100
Look like just regular 10 dollar "night" driving glasses to me. They block out blue light and give everything a yellowish tint (which is easier on the eyes). It's amazing how companies can scam people by just putting the tag "gamer" on it.

Just got an AMD R9 380 to replace my 7 year old GTX 260. I can afford it but I already regret wasting money on the GPU. Have not installed it yet. Will probably return it and use the GTX 260 for a few more years.
Gaming has become very boring and Blender is more than fast enough on that 7 year old GPU.
I should return it and put the money in a savings account.
>>
>>52139908
My 290Xs, kind of. AMD's CF support is so shit that I should have just bit the bullet and bought 2 GTX 980s. Gonna wait for new cards to come out before chucking these things out and replacing them with something better.

Also fuck Sapphire & Gigabyte.

I had the same with logitech products. Over the years I have come to hate them. They used to have pretty decent stuff, my MX510 was a great mouse. Nowadays they either sell crap or slap a "gaymun" tag on a product just so people fork out more money.

Too bad the build quality and wear is below standard, it seems like a really sweet monitor. 1440p is just about the sweet spot for that resolution. Dell Mini 10v netbook, thinking it would be neat to hackintosh it. Only had trouble with the thing:wifi not working, sound not working, trackpad not working. Once I figured out to fix everything, a new update was pushed and made my battery drains 2x faster (according to Mac OS X, i need to replace it even tough it was brand new).

Formatted and installed Linux Mint on it, but it's a pretty useless machine considering my smartphone has better specs.

Also, my first ebay purchase which was a KVM switch, never used it. Hell I don't even know if it's working.

Okay, thats pretty bad then. I do remember Dell having randomly combusting power bricks back then.

Most mid 00's laptops were pretty shit. I remember my Aspire's hinges just breaking off after 1,5 year despite taking good care of it (they literally just broke off with the screen falling backwards). Thankfully replacement hinges were dirt cheap (probably one of the reasons why the broke off so easily).

You just reminded me of how shit most laptops/pc's were back then. It's like somewhere between 2001 and 2009 manufacturers decided that quality didn't matter anymore. Only the last couple of years notebooks seem to become more durable again.

>Orange makes you hot and bothered

I'd say that warmer light (Red, orange, yellow, etc.) is harder on my eyes as it blurs more towards white. I tend to prefer cooler themes (Black, blue, purple) as they're easier on my eyes, and don't strain them as much.

If typing noise turns you on you're probably going to have lots of fun at least.

I could hit like 110 wpm for a short period on the reds but it felt clumsy as hell; in the absence of any useful feedback from the keys even a slight change in posture would fuck things up and it'd be hard to just avoid holdiiiiingggg keys down randomly. And I'm not really the type that can sit still.

Adjust it so the orange is more subtle, the settings depend on the type of light in your room. And of course, try to avoid using your computer with lights turned off that's a bad idea no matter what. As for the question of what the point is, try turning it on during the day, wait for the sun to go down so that the screen goes orange, use it for an hour or two at night. Then try disabling it. The default blue screen WILL hurt your eyes. This shows you what blue light is doing to your eyes and internal sleep clock in the night time.

They have a mild yellow tint. Just google "computer glasses" and grab a $10 pair. Worst case scenario, you don't like them and are out $10. But if they work it's $10 well spent.
>>
>>52139908
The gunnars are a tad overpriced, but they're reading glasses with a yellow tint (you can do via flux or similar). They have a +0.2 diopter lens to favor vision up closer with less eyestrain and an anti-reflective coating.

If you wear regular glasses though, the gunnars are probably not a fit. If you have myopia (nearsightedness), you can benefit from a set of computer glasses. With correction and no tint, you can easily get a pair of lenses for $150 or less.

Well I bought it when it first came out, was pretty psyched for an x86 tablet to the point where when I forgot to count tax and didn't put enough money in my account I bought the 32GB model because hyped to buy it

As for resolution, 1280x800 is fine at 8" even with 100% scaling. Now that tablet's gone and I recently picked up a Chuwi Hi8 with a 1920x1200 8" screen and that is too high of a res. 100% scaling and everything's way too small, 150% and shit looks bad, 200 % and everything's huge. Next tablet I get will either be 1280x800 or a resolution that that or a similar resolution scales perfectly to, such as 2560x1600
>>
>>52169503
I was hyped too when I first bought it. Dell had a sale on EBay and I jumped on a 32GB model for $200AUD. Took them a month to ship it be because "they were building it". I used it for a month on 100% scaling and mis-pressed things all the time. On 150% shit was too big. It sat unused for another two months before I sold it. I did recently look at the new Teclast X98 Pro though. That looks interesting, but from my experience, their Android ROM on the dualboot model is dogshit slow.
