Who else fell for the "net neutrality" meme?

It's just another example of over reaching government. We DO NOT need ENFORCED "net neutrality" - what we need is COMPETITION within the private sector. To increase competition we need less barrier to entry which entails less regulations and restrictions on startups. If we continue to let special interest groups create barriers for small businesses via the state then we will continue to have poor service! Regulation is bad for consumers. Just look at what happened in Switzerland recently with the standardization of phone chargers (fundamentally anti-consumer).

Is there anything worse than old people drawing political cartoons about things they know nothing about?
>see "government" and "regulation" in the same sentence
>I DON'T CARE WHAT IT DOES, IT'S BAD!!!
>>
America has a weird situation where both the government and corporations are controlled by the corporations so any decision that is made effectively does the same thing, so each 'side' of the argument can keep arguing forever since they're both wrong.
>>
what does the Net Neutrality have to do with the NSA ?
>To increase competition we need less barrier to entry which entails less regulations and restrictions on startups.
is this why in some places big companies have lobbied to make it illegal for local government to run their own networks ? So much for competition

Consumers had had 20+ years of competition and the majority of consumers only have 2 choices for an ISP.

what kind of shitty bait is this ??

Yes, anon. That tends to happen when you're talking about government regulation. It's not some abstract concept, it's very real.

>old people
Ad hominem, appeal to novelty
>>

Alright, in your own words, explain why enforcing net neutrality as a law is bad.
And explain it from your point of view, as an end user who pays for their internet every month and expects unfettered access to the internet without their ISP arbitrarily throttling you because your current usage patterns cuts into their business plans.
>>
Without Net Neutrality it will be companies that decide the winners and losers of the digital age.
It won't be a matter of superior product, it will be a matter of who has the deeper pockets.

LET CONSUMERS DECIDE!
>>
>>52133233
>let consumers decide by reducing choice
>>
>>52133109
These people are the same ones that don't trust the NSA but think that data brokerage companies selling their personal data to russian organised criminals is perfectly fine since that's capitalism.

Oh wait, they don't report that stuff very much because the corporations that make money from data are the same ones who produce the news.
>>
>>52133166
>fallacy fallacy

>>
>>52133261
reducing what choice ?

Consumers already have very little choice in ISPs already.
>>
>>52133293
>Consumers already have very little choice in ISPs already.
How's that regulation working out for ya?
>>
the cable companies will be lobbying politicians of all stripes for regulations favoring their incumbent position regardless of whether you do so as well.

I see no reason that consumers shouldn't play the same game.
>>
>>52133297
That's due to lack thereof though.
>>
>>52133306
>I see no reason that consumers shouldn't play the same game.
That's the point. If we reduce the ability to create regulation than we don't have anyone playing games.

>>52133317
That's incorrect.
>>
>>52133297
>companies lobby for laws that make it illegal for cities and municipalities to form their own ISPs and lay down their own fiber
>>
>>52133325
Probably the most virtuous thing they've ever done.
>>
>>52133297
yeah because something that was only announced a short time ago, that is being challenged in court has already been implemented.

And regulation is working well in Canada thanks for asking.

The phone and cable companies have to wholesale (+ a small profit) their lines to other companies.
Meaning that I have a choice of DOZENS of isp in my area, all offering different prices and various speeds and with or without data caps.
>>
>>52133345
>And regulation is working well in Canada thanks for asking.
Fucking kill yourself, Ahmed. Regulation has fucked us in the asshole repeatedly up North. Hmm, do I pick Rogers or Bell? Or maybe that Rogers cable reseller!

>>
>>52133322
>reduce the ability
You cannot reduce the ability without changing the constitution.

Fundamentally, you will only ever reduce it for yourself. The billionaire company will always be able to pay a legislature or legislater go implement anticompetitive regulation.

It is pointless and silly to pretend that you can stop that permanently.
>>
>>52133360
>saving tax payers hundreds of millions

lol okay
>>
>>52133357
It turns out that corporation controlled regulation is the same as no regulation at all, and this muddies the waters completely.

>>
>what we need is COMPETITION within the private sector

Good in theory but in reality less regulations just result in less competitions as larger companies can basically just use the power of their money to stifle competition and basically become monopolies. If anything it just creates an even more hostile environment for startups.

Don't feed me to consumers vote with their wallets bullshit either. If Comcast is your only option for internet you're going to pay for it now matter how high the price or how bullshit the policies. We've become way too addicted to the internet to just give it up and they know it.

Regulations like Net Neutrality are the only thing protecting consumers.
>>
>>52133386
Keep on moving the goalpost, NDP/liberal scum.
>>
>>52133370
How does it save tax payers money?
That money you save you then lose 4 or 5 times over to your cable bill.
For slower internet.
>>52133366
The secret is to make bribery illegal.
America legalised bribery.
>>
>>52133401
If Comcast wins the market then they deserve to keep it. We have no right to interfere.

To suck cock of a jew called fuckerperg and feed his children by watching ads and playing social games.
To recognize how irrelevant I am as a male bachelor in today's society.
Wow I like this company so much, btw I am a chinese living in taiwan.

Something like Local-loop unbundling is whats needed in the USA. The idea in the early 2000 by the FCC is ISPs would compete for better and faster infrastructure to the customer. That fell through. Now we have Net neutrality but we need a a lot more.

Less regulations and restrictions? Look no further then the Comcast data cap drama.
