The only good part of OS X is its integration with the hardware. Apple makes great hardware but pretty mediocre software. There's pretty much zero reason to run OS X on non-Apple hardware, especially given that it's not designed to be one size fits all akin to Windows or Linux.

Friendly reminder: clover EFI is the only good bootloader for a hackintosh hands down. BIOS is not an excuse anymore. Chimera and chameleon are both depreciated shit.

I've been doing hackintoshes since day one and now have a job as a technology coordinator at a university. Troubleshooting in lab image creation. Anyone saying that tinkering with an OS the way you weren't meant to is a waste of time is lethargic devil and should stick you there baby duck OS whichever it maybe

I have a spare SSD I'm not using, so partitioning and all that nonsense is irrelevant.
can't get el capitan to work and it's driving me nuts
had yosemite working fine, decided to upgrade with a clean install using clover instead of chameleon this time. holy fuck. i CANNOT get the fucking thing to boot after installation.
I have NullCPUPowerMangement in every kext folder on my boot stick, yet its still loading AppleIntelCPUManagement.kext and breaking. I even deleted the Apple one from the system, and it still loads from beyond the grave.
giving up. been at it for two days, fuck this

boot with -f, also use clover flush kext cache also make sure to have either IOAHCIBlockStorageInjector wither installed or patched in to clover . Yosemite is still supported and updated. why el crapitan? when all else fails, give up and return to your autism os

forgot to mention updating to uefi if you havent already for clover. also re config ur uefi settings and make ure u have ahci mode.

believe me I've tried everything, including what you've suggested.
when I install clover EFI, it doesn't show up at all in my boot list, even though the EFI usb stick does. when I install it as a BIOS loader, I can load it but the OS X partition doesn't show up in its list. total fucking nightmare. somewhere along the line it decided to remove my linux's grub EFI, so now I can't even boot into my main OS.

I've got an almost perfect Hackintosh build (unintentional), and only switched to OS X earlier this year.
I've had such a good experience but my R9 290 has been a pain in the ass.
