God I remember the shit times I had with the former family pc that got moved to my room in 2001. Looking up game playthroughs and somehow ending up making it so virus ridden it would take a complete reinstall at times. Got me into fixing shit for myself and I even picked up Filipino flip book art in the process.

Getting rid of the dos libraries and several other improvements improved performance of 32-bit applications by 25-30% compared to 98SE.
Fact: ME has serious problems (that were never fixed) with certain Intel chipsets. So serious, that the system is unusable.
But where it works (large majority), its the best performing 9x Windows and infact many games actually work better than on NT5.0.

Forgot to include AMD in there as well. ME also routinely failed to load drivers for sound, video and networking. Even for day to day tasks, those three are generally needed.
ME was broken, rushed out the door to replace 98se when a replacement was not needed.
