Linux baby here. 1 month old. Fresh to Linux, had arch running and Riced to my liking in 2 hours. And that's with copious note taking to learn how it all worked and to be able to retrace my steps if I screwed up.

The updates for the OS/drivers

That's about it because all my applications are portable now so there's no "install" at that point, just copy shit over from backups and run it.

I have seen a Linux-loaded laptop at a store literally TWICE in the last ten years and ZERO possibility to buy a laptop without an OS.

the site has one of those little asterisk things that notifies you the pictures are only there for illustration and you should contact the seller for detailed info (like selection of corpus color, additional hardware, removal of hardware etc.)...

Then I just go down the list of my programs on my current PC and install the ones I use regularly.
>>

Downgrading?
More like initial installation.
I wouldn't buy a PC/Laptop with Botnet10 preinstalled. Fuck that.
>>
>>52102678
Why would you install a slower os then?
8.1 is faster than 7 without the botnet that most tinfoil hats describe.
>>
>>52102708
Not that anon, but a lot of software that scares the tinmen runs on 7, but doesn't on 8.1.
>>
>>52102756
>a lot of software
Such as?

>8.1 faster than 7
I don't get this meme. 8.1 runs like shit on my x220T. It's fucking depressing. 10 and 7 run way faster than that piece of shit that is 8.1

I just use xubuntu.

This one says it's genuine but it's $35 which doesn't seem right.

This one also says it's genuine and it's $89 which seems about right.

Is the top one non-genuine? battery life is important.
The top one has 21 sold and good ratings, should i buy it?

Actually you're right, I can't, my contract forbids me to talk about in-house software. However, pic related is my employer and well... we (which is like 140k people) use W7 and XP globally because of software compatibility. And I'm pretty sure you can find a lot of companies in the top 200 which use a lot of software no one has ever heard of and never will.. nevertheless people need to use it.. and W8.1 doesn't cater to their needs. So stick your assumptions to where ever you want anon ;)
