So, GUI babies, what would you have done? Called IT? Demanded your money back? Bought a new one? Go through the folders one by one for hours? Also, I thought I never needed to use the command prompt on Windows.

That's exactly what happened. Not even a progress window. I'm no Windows expert, so I can't tell you why it was shitting itself when there were folders with special characters. Nor do I even know to use robocopy.
