I got an Ultrasharp U2414H today due to a boxing day special (it was $60 cheaper than the 2415).
It's gorgeous, except it's got a weird ass half-dead pixel that only shows up on perfectly white backgrounds.
But it's all the way on the right side of the display and only shows up on pure white backgrounds, so I'm dealing with it.
Maybe I'll get a U2415 if it's on sale later this year and replace my shitty ass Samsung Syncmaster at work with this current U2414.
I have a generic 16:9 Viewsonic monitor Doesn't use PWM for brightness so I don't get those headaches from other shitty monitors, has okay speakers built in if I need to hear anything. Works okay for what I do.

I have a U2414H both at home and at work.
It's a very good monitor, but it's not without flaws, there are a couple things to be aware of.
1) Displayport daisychaining. DO NOT get a U2414H if you intend to daisychain it. I haven't tried to do this myself, but if you read up on it a bit you'll find that a lot of people either can't get it working at all or it ends up being wonky as hell. You're lucky if you get a U2414H that works with daisychaining.
2) This applies to all U2414H owners using Windows and AMD/Nvidia graphics: Displayport on U2414H is seen as HDMI by Nvidia and AMD drivers in Windows. What this means is that you will by default get a limited RGB range on this monitor.
This is easily fixed by going into your driver, finding the relevant setting, and setting it to full range instead of limited. It's not a huge deal, but it is something you should be aware of because if you don't fix this you get shitty colour reproduction and god awful blacks and whites.

I have a 2715H, I like it but beware cause there are a tons of them with bad back lighting. Get one and test it right off, and if you see "white" zones on black backgrounds (like around the bezel, noticeable when you watch a movie) return it right off and ask for a perfect monitor. You could go through a few before you get a good one....
what's the best 4k monitor in the 24 inch range SO FAR?
i'm willing to let some shit go because I don't need freesync and other gimmicks, i just need something capable of 60gps that is 8ms or better. being able to adjust the stand would be nice but i know that jacks up the price

I think 27 inches is at the limit of comfortable viewing size for a monitor.

It's the same on all the recent Ultrasharps.
There's on during active or off during active. Setting it to off during active turns the LED off while the monitor is on, but has the LED do its breathing effect thing when the monitor is on standby.

Worked like a charm on my old rig but I recently upgraded to a much more powerful machine (980 after using a card that wasn't even supported by DX11) and I've been noticing pretty bad screen tearing.

I have, and I have it set to off on both of my U2414H's.
The LED is off when the monitor is on, but if it goes on standby from not getting a signal/computer getting turned off, the LED starts its breathing thing.

It's REALLY hard to get the case open on it. I had to open it up to remove the monitor stand so that I could use it with a wall mount and I was sure I was going to break something, I don't feel like doing that again. Other than the power LED and a couple of stuck pixels it's a decent monitor.

I think it's the best way to go about it, really.
If it was just off permanently there wouldn't be a way to see if the monitor is on standby or off, so having the LED breathing during standby is good.
The LED on the newer Ultrasharps isn't very bright at all, though. If I turn all lights in my apartment off at night and let my U2414H go on standby, its LED doesn't illuminate anything other than itself. It's more like just a small white rectangle than a light source, which is good.

An Acer K272HUL-bmiidp 27" 2560x1440p 60hz ips screen with a 6ms. Got it black Friday 2014 for $275, a great deal at the time. I absolutely love it, the colors are vivid and 2k pixel density feels so clean.
I haven't noticed ghosting from the high response time, but I've never owned a 1ms screen before so can't really compare. But if I had to trade that beautiful ips screen for a higher refresh rate, I'd do it every time.

I was thinking about the monitor posted by OP as well. Dind't know if it's worth it since there is the daisychain problem but hot damn it is a nice one with height adjustment. I ended up gettting an open box samsung monitor from BB cause I was desperate and they didn't have any new stock left. I would love to get the dell monitor though. Yeah. Dell is cheaper but I've heard that Eizo has really good color calibration out of the box. Also I've read that Dell has problems with bleeding. Is it true? Also Dell has only hdmi and DisplayPort but I have only DVI available. Does using adapters from hdmi/displayport to dvi cause any problems?

I need to upgrade my dual monitor setup, one it's a 1920x1080 22 inches and the other one is 19 inches 1440x900. If I don't play at 4K? Yes, it is. It's workable, but 1080p on a 27" display is pretty shit even if it's native, it's slightly worse than native I guess, but my monitor does a good job of upscaling and the high DPI of 4K also helps. Still, I never play anything at low res, 4K looks too amazingly sharp and beautiful to give up.

How does the colour compare to comparable non-144hz IPS panels? I currently have a Dell U2715H which I'll use as a secondary monitor if I get a 144hz primary screen. I wonder if I'll be able to tweak the colour profile so they're similar, might trigger my autism otherwise.

Typically IPS panels have much richer colors as opposed to VN panels which are noticeably washed out, especially with deeper hues of red (will look more orange)
Problem with IPS is though that the vast majority of them cannot do 144hz, which caps your rigs ability to show you more than 60 fps
The XB270HU and the other ones in that line have IPS color with the VN 144hz speed, and works further with gsynch if you have an nvidia gpu and will help prevent things like tearing happening

comparing the Samsung 24D590PL ($179) and the Dell U2414H ($239). I don't think there is any difference in specs except that the Dell has more option on the height adjustment + orientation. Is the extra 60$ worth it?
