who else fell for the surface meme?

128gb/dGPU here. Don't buy any microshill products unless you want endless software issues and hardware failures.

What's wrong with it? Which issues are you having?
>>

MS support team already active on /g/?

>display driver crashes
>rotation lock can't be disabled if the tablet dies and is then reattached to the base unless you charge the tablet for 30 minutes
>dGPU wasn't detected this morning, even after factory reset and calling m$ and having them remote in to fix it
>exterior is very fragile and prone to dings and scratches
>have to pick up and use two hands to open it

Its a beautiful machine but a serious waste of money.
>>
This thing would be pretty amazing if it just dropped the tablet bullshit and the weirdass hinge and was a normal fucking laptop. Get over it Microsoft, nobody wants compromised jack of all trades master of none crap. PCs and tablets are disparate devices with disparate usecases and disparate UX. The end.

still shit huh bought one off amazon I can return till jan 31st 2016, thank you amazon
>>
>>52087382

return it then, I'm returning mine and getting the new macbooks out next year from a company that knows how to build a proper laptop with stable software

Didn't you update it correctly before anything?
I'm probably going to get the 512gb/16gb/dgpu version for my work. It should last for a while and continually get updates. Don't care about the botnet meme since im not up to illegal stuff. However it seems like hardware wise it won't be needing to get replaced but the software updates will continue to improve over time much like how windows 10 will be more of a constantly updated and evolving OS.
>>
I've seen alot of reviews for the surface book but this one since the dude goes more in depth with details and whats going on other than just saying words about the design changed how i felt about it, I'm probably going to get one but still a bit skeptical, see what you think https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UptjlJ65k00&

Con-fucking-grats you bought microshill's version of a macbook; you were better off buying a goddamn Macbook Air and for the very least installing a bootcamp Windows onto it.

Refunds usually allow exchange only for a merchandise of similar type. You can't refund computer for fashion accessory.
>>
>>52087410
If the surface books was $300 cheaper and was just a regular laptop and even came without a touchscreen but the same 3000*2000 res I would buy it.

It would be nice to have a laptop that's not a chromebook pixel with 3:2 aspect ratio.
>>
>>52086858
Looks pretty sexy to me.

I'll get one when it's on sale next year.

That's if you're getting store credit and not your money back and at a place that actually gives a shit about how you spend that credit.
>>

Eh if you read the reviews you'd have known it was launching buggy. The good news is that Microshit fixed the bugs in the last surface model so there's no reason to believe they wouldn't fix this one. Just a shame that they rushed a Christmas release instead of waiting until bugs were fixed.

There were a couple manufacturing defects, I think somewhere upstream.

As a Microsoft employee, the best advice I can give anyone wanting Microsoft hardware is wait until ~3-6 months after launch. All the manufacturing defects are ironed out, and the shit just works.

Or go buy something else, and complain about it instead...

It really is. Culture and counter culture though. Engineers vs Marketing.

Fuck marketing...

Might be a bit, but I'm not in that group so I honestly don't know. I'd imagine it would follow somewhere in step with Intel's tick / tock cadence though, and the Surface Book is Skylake, so there is that...
>>
>>52086858
Should've bought an rMBP with the money you wasted :^)
>>
>>52092426
I'm planning on getting the 512gb/16gb/dgpu model in a week or so. If you don't mind could you explain the significance of skylake, been out of the intel loop for a while but always preferred them over amd.
>>
>>52092509
I'll leave that to someone else, it's just Intel's most recent offering.

A co-worker has the i7 / 16gb / 512gb / dgpu model, and he likes it. That's also the same model I'll be getting when I finally do.
>>
>>52092610
I appreciate it man, good to know. Seems like the best choice out of all the options.

they just lack direction or, even if it's a retarded term, "vision".

they're expensive b/c it's flagship but their products don't really excite. they're macbook looking things with windows on them. as a tablet they're thick and awkward, as a laptop they're a little too small.

the confusion at windows shows even in little details. skype is horribly designed.
> starts up after boot without the user asking it to
> you can only change that when logged in
> stays in taskbar even if you close the window, which is nonstandard behaviour
> you have to quit it via context menu
> ads plastered all over the interface ... like why the fuck would a company harass users with ads in one of their main products. this could be an opportunity to position windows as an OS that "helps you connect with the ones you love" blah blah, they could make it look sleek and windows-brand it a little more, instead it feels like fucking adware

w10 could have been nice, they're going in the right direction with some of the interfaces, but there's too many different ones. and the telemetry crap doesn't help. i'm surprised there wasn't more public debate about this, the sheer amount of data they collect is just ridiculous to the point where it feels a violation of your privacy. i would have expected media to talk a lot more about this, if just for shock value alone.

>>
>>52094339
thinkpads are literally meh since lenovo bought them. some models are good, some are shit. same w/ macbooks. nothing wrong with the air. just don't buy the hugely overpriced crap.
>>
>>52089174
Both microshill and crapple are shitty in their own special ways, anon
>>
I fell for the meme with the surface 2... I convinced myself that I needed it for school but in reality just wanted a new gadget... The piece of shit continuously blue screened, sold it on eBay to recoup my cash, the bastard saw through my rouse and mailed it back for an eBay garuanteed refund... Then sold it to some nigger on Craigslist
>>

>Feels good to be Thinkpad Master Race.
I'd take an i7 Surface Book over my W541 any day...
>>
>>52096363
I'd take my T60p or X201t with Lubuntu 14.04 and an SSD over either of those any day. Why did you buy the extra bigass model?

so you got a virus on it while browsing your faggy porn and its the surface fault?

lel

I have the first surface and I have never gotten the blue screen. ever.

I wouldn't buy the first surface book desu, maybe the 2nd one when all the flaws are sorted out.

Shoulda bought the surface pro 4 tbqhw senpai
>>
>>52086858
thanks for beta testing
>>
>>52093373
Pretty sure microshaft is so split up with different divisions you get shit like Skype which operates on its own kingdom and so uses ads and totally different ui design plus bloat to boot with their independence.
>>
>>52086858
>Don't buy any microshill products unless you want endless software issues and hardware failures.
No shit, senpai.
>>
Nope, not falling for this one. The Surface Prop however is very good.
