Do I need to worry about BIOS updates when buying a board for a G3258? PCPartPicker says that pretty much any H81/B85 board may need an update, but the boards and CPUs have been out for quite a while..

What kind of fucking retard is buying a G3258 in 2016-5 days?

this, or any fucking dual core desktop cpu 2015/6 -5 for that matter

I'm currently on a budget and I plan on upgrading to an i5 mid-2016.
>>
>>52086717
you'd be better off with the lowest end i3 desu

How about a 4170? I did see some stuff about the G3258 stuttering on GTA 5 which isn't nice.

The alternative is an 860k but that's a ded socket

the g3258 is fine unless you're pairing it with a 970 or higher

it'll be fine if you're keeping it for a year or less

Wrong, you dumb piece of shit. It'll cripple even a 750 Ti in many modern games (and just about anything big released in late 2015).

You'd have to be a fucking retard to buy a dual core, dual thread CPU at this point.

Because it's not very smart to waste money in it when it's becoming more and more obsolete each day.

Where is this? Also, can someone answer my BIOS question? Even an i3 (which I will probably end up getting anyways) has this BIOS update problem. Anyone have experiences with it?
>>
>>52089380
I had the same processor when I first built my PC. Didn't have to do a BIOS update on my cheap ass MSI board, so I'm willing to bet you won't have to either.
>>
>>52086621
Any 97 board should be fine, there's an h81 board from MSI built for overclocking this little fucker. Clock it up to a stable 4.4 and let it roll until you have the money for an upgrade. Best bet is to buy a z97 board so you can just drop a k series into it later.
>>
>>52087906
Dude where the fuck are you getting that price from? Help a nigga out.
>>
Nothing wrong with the G3258; don't buy one if you want to do things that say they require 4 cores e.g. really new games. Mine does everything I need and with a 660, all is gucci.
