Why does Linux Mint has such a butt ugly default background?
I know it can be easily changed but Jesus Christ, it's almost 2016 and they use something that looks like it was made by a teenager on his pirated copy of 3D Studio in 1995
To not make this thread completely useless - how is Linux Mint? Never used it... is there a good reason for it being the most popular distro?
How does it compare to Xubuntu ?

I installed it yesterday was really stable but ran luke crap on my computer meanwhile windows 8 works great. Do I have to change any settings? I already perfomed a few tweaks but it didn't really help.
