Dumb as fuck.

Retarded.
Just get a I5+B85 motherboard for a cheap gaming rig.

You'd be an absolute mad man desu senpai

like this
Supermicro boards get mad with non-supermicro PSUs, I just got a dual Xeon SM board and it refused to work with my HX1050 and another Thermaltake one. Anything but Supermicro

It seems cheaper to buy a I5-4460 and H81 motherboard.
Or an APU.
>$150
>Without adding the price of the GPU
What a misleading title/clickbait
>>52075561
Are you fucking kidding me?

Weird... My server runs an X9SRL-F with an Antec PS just fine.
Don't do the 2xLGA1366 quad core meme.
Get ONE LGA1366 6-core and a board that supports overclocking, and you'll BTFO one of these 8-core meme machines in both single-thread and multi-thread.

Too much work, but if you're like me and you love fiddling with stuff and getting the best out of what you have then yes
if the struggle isn't your thing you best be shopping for new stuff

>OP recently watched dual cpu gaming on youtube
kill yourself

I wanted to build with that exact board in a HAF 915R with dual 5650s, the PSU connector is a custom 20-pin that you need an adapter for.
Puget Systems has a build with a similar half-ssi/blade motherboard and they sell the adapter for like five bucks. I was in your exact dilemma a few months ago
Look up "Dual Xeon HAF 915" on Google
Best of luck to you, you'll need it

>Comparing 4 core to 6 core
>Cheapo shit to new CPU
>Ignoring overclock headroom
I mean it's a bad idea for other reasons (see >>52078267) but that's just a dumb comparison.

Depends on what you're doing. Though if you're not really doing server / CAD / heavy pic or video editing / virtualization, it seems a bit overkill. Go for something 4 core with a higher clock speed.
And then you have the whole DDR3 ECC registered requirement...
On another note, I do happen to have a quantity of 4GB and 16GB modules available for sale...
