Are these cheap as fuck servers good for backups/datastore. They are a daughter company of ovh which is a pretty big hosting company. The cheapest ones have slow as fuck cpus, but it doesn't really matter for data storage. I've heard people even using them for seedboxes.

This servers serves storage for music and movies, and backups of my other computers.
My plan was to get another 2 identical drives so I can use RAID 10 or 6, but so far I don't need the extra storage.
I sometimes use it to host random game servers.

HP microserver gen8 with a xeon e3 1240v2 and 4x WD Red 4tb. Looking at another 2-4 drives if and when prices drop.
All drives are manually mirrored using freefilesync so no RAID but 8tb usable storage.

Got 4x6tb in raid 10, zfs and 30gb ecc ram. Sadly these 4 harddrives increased the power usage by like 50%.

I got mine for £179 new +16gb ram and the xeon on top.
I only run winblows server 2012 but don't really use most of the features. The iLO features are handy as fuck, especially for the price.
If you ever want more than 4 drives reconsider though.
