When is the last time you actually got a BSOD? I would have to say I haven't seen this since 2003-2004, yet I hear people talk about this phenomenon all the time. Does this really happen to others as much as loonix shills say?
>>
you don't overclock your shit do you?
>>
i can't even remember. must be like two pcs ago, vista or something.
>>
Your Hardware must be godly. My last PC used to give me a ton of these. GPU was fried and liked to shut down apparently randomly (still haven't found the cause)
>>
last one was almost exactly a year ago just after my first build/upgrade
I dont know what I did to get it but I never get them anymore
>>
>>52047216
I think the PSU casues it too, if its underpowered
>>
Last week during an update
>>
>>52047143
2 months ago. Solved it by changing ram slots.
Serves me right for buying used mobos.
>>
>>52047143
I had one of Window 10's "sorry, PC crashed" screens yesterday which is basically a BSOD, but that's the first time I've had one on W10.
As for back when I was on W7... I don't even know. A very, very long time ago.

Nowhere near as common as the shills say, definitely not.
>>
>>52047184
Never had a reason to overclock
>>52047216
Not really. I've had computers with failing ram that spat out BSOD's alot but this used to be a much bigger problem during regular windows use.
>>
>>52047143
About year or two ago when bitcoin price was high and I forgot to turn off over clocking before launching CSGO.
Now I'm using Arch for year or something so I don't have to deal with it anymore.
>>
A few days ago. I think one of my RAM sticks might be failing. Each time it was a BAD_POOL_HEADER error message. It only seems to occur whenever I have a Youtube video playing.
>>
>>52047143
2 weeks ago, windows 10 enterprise.
no particular reason, everything works fine after rebooting and debian doesn't have problems.
>>
Before win2k some time so I'll guess 1999.
>>
I see them on a regular basis at work (almost daily). Or rather I hear about them when people call to ask if I can do anything about it.
>>
last month daily bsod's on win10 enterprise, no updates installed at all
caused by overclocking my ram, problem lied in the fact i had 2 different sets of ram and one being considerably less potent for overclocking
>>
A few days ago, my computer is whack so I get them whenever I push it. Think it's the RAM.
>>
>>52047143
As far as I know your computer just restarts nowadays, instead of BSODíng
>>
>>52047143
2013, since then I've stopped fucking around with my hardware tbqh
>>
i get them once or twice a year max from my cpu being overclocked, last time i had one was probably 4/5 months ago
>>
Not since win 8
>>
A couple of months ago power would shut off at my place for like a second several times a day for about a week. After it was fixed my video card was blue screening my computer anywhere from 0 to 5 times a day for like a month. Then the blue screens would happen less and less, and now we're back to normal, pretty weird.
>>
>>52048190
on w10 you get a light blue screen with a sad emoji that tells you that your data is being submitted to microsoft. (i am not even joking)
>>
>>52047143
Yesterday when I installed Android Studio
>>
>>52047143
>shills
You can't shill for FLOSS. Last time I got one was about a year ago when I had to install drivers for my fucking wifi switch.
>>
>>52049658
Why would you be joking? Microsoft is know for their willingness to help customers in need.
>>
>>52049726
the last thing i need when i get a BSOD from watching porn is some indian from MS tech support trying to help me.
>>
Used to have an R9 270X. No BSODs.
Replaced with a 4GB GTX 670. BSODs galore.
>>
Every other cold boot

I got an MSi 390 for Christmas. First build I ever assembled myself. First time I ever purchased all the components myself. All my own research, all my own time. Put it together, everything runs smoothly. Install the GPU drivers, and as soon as they finished, BSOD. Ended up having to RMA it, and the replacement still hasn't arrived.

I've never wept from a purchase, but damn if I didn't get a few tears of rage. I will never buy AMD again.
>>
One of the last times I saw some BSODs was around 2013, when my laptop started having random freezees. BSODs showed problems linked to KERNEL32.SYS and NTFS.SYS, if my memory serves me right. Windows 7 btw.

In time, freezes got worse when reading certain files, HDD SMART readings started to show warnings in one or two parameters, and the HDD finally died... WD piece of shit failed after a year.
>>
~2007

Windows is still VASTLY less reliable than any other common OS, but BSODs are mostly a thing of the past.
>>
>>52050917
faulty hardware happens, got the same problem on a 670 some time ago, don't worry too much about it.
>>
>>52051006
my gf and me both got a BSOD this month. they are not a thing of the past.
>>
I got a BSoD at school about a week ago
>>
I used to get BSOD's all the time on my last desktop. It was running Vista, had an overclocked Q6600 CPU and a pair of ATI 3870's running in crossfire until I upgraded to a single ATI 5870. Not sure what was causing the BSOD issues, the CPU was only mildly overclocked and was 24hr prime stable. It could've been Vista itself or a faulty MOBO, or unstable GPU drivers... who knows.

My current desktop runs Windows 7 and has a 4690k CPU at stock speeds with an Nvidia GTX 770 GPU and I've never had a BSOD with it. Admittedly, I don't use that computer more than once a week or so and I only use it to play vidya, I'm usually on one of my two laptops that exclusively run Linux.

>>
Haven't had a BSOD since probably 2008. More recently Windows 7 has completely shut off a few times while running Chrome with approx 10 tabs open. Haven't had any issues since switching back to FF
>>
2 months ago on Windows 10: MEMORY_MANAGEMENT / PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA because memory doa.
2008 on Windows XP: PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA because one of the memory modules was baked.
>>
