Is there a significant difference between HDMI and VGA? If I switched my computer over to HDMI would I have better clarity?

I have a gtx670 that has an HDMI input but I cant get it to work on my monitor. I can hear it detecting the input but my monitpr remains black. Any ideas why?

I googled it and websites seem to differ. Some guys say it makes no difference, some say it makes a little difference, and some say it makes a big difference. Wtf?

Its also worth noting that ive tried the hdmi cable on my tv and it worked fine, so it must be my monitor right? Monitors dont need drivers right?

VGA is analog and HDMI is digital, so obviously you should go with HDMI.

But analog gives a warmer, more pleasant signal

What do you mean?

Analog components are not limited by the number of bits used. Also, they are not as precise as digital, which leads to a more varied signal that the human mind interprets as warmer

But you aren't driving an analog display. Even if vga is an analog signal it is still being displayed on a digital panel, with pixels. The only thing that would bet you is blurry text.

Also, with vga, as your delivered resolution grows, the imagine quality degrades. VGA ceased to be relevant for any demanding applications beyond 1280x1024

Always use digital over analog. VGA can cause ghosting or a soft image which doesn't happen with HDMI.

Then why is analog superior for smoke detection? That's right, no need for BITS!
