I'm not buying a Mac just to use the cloud
Tapes or online back up. I believe there's a newer format for on site back up. HDX maybe? It's similar to tape drives but use HDDs/SSDs instead of tapes.
RAID is not a back up solution and shouldn't be considered as one, its a method of avoiding catastrophic hardware failures. It cannot prevent malware, stupid users or bad software from causing permanent damage to your system.

At least 3 copies, two onsite and one off-site (can be cloud).
Copies must be staggered to prevent human errors: e.g. 2nd copy weekly backup + 3rd copy monthly backup.
Backups must be disconnected from main copy until scheduled backup to prevent the effect of viruses or human error.

RAID is not a backup.
I image my drive weekly
I put the image on a dedicated raid 1 NAS, then I put it in a truecrypt container and upload it to amazons cloud service as well
Even if something happens with the NAS, I still have an offsite backup
Google Drive

RAR it all, burn onto thousands of M-Disc CDs, at least 5 copies, hide them in abandoned mine shafts.
