Im using Discord, OP. It has a pretty interface, works well, nice chat with gif support, try it out and presents it to your friends!
tell your friends skype leaks all your information and if you send nudes or whatever everyone can see

Over last summer my friends and I were using Skype because we couldn't find a good alternative we all liked, until I heard about Discord. I installed it and ironically (at the time) suggested they all install it too. For some reason they did and we've been using it since. It has a nice, clean interface and some really convenient features.

Really old code with lots of vulnerabilities and uses data more than it needs. Best example of a shitty proprietary software everyone uses because meh it innovated video calling. I got all my friends to switch to hangouts.

Tell them that no one will have to host a call if you're using something like Teamspeak, so if the host has a dodgy connection; the call won't be laggy. Furthermore, push-to-talk and voice detection is a huge advantage as it doesn't pick up much background noise.
