1. Ubuntu(any flavor)
2. Manjaro
3. Korora

These distros work amazingly out of the box, look great, and have a large collection of up to date packages.

Still interested in trying Sabayon.

Shout out to elementaryOS. Clean and easy, I may still be using it if not for outdated packages

i guess.

Mint, xubuntu, ubuntu mate and Arch(itech) are the best imo
>>
Arch is objectively the best GNU/Linux distribution if you know how to use it.
>>
>>52012814
If you know how to use arch you would know how to use lfs and if you knew it you would be using it.

I use arch because I wanted a babbymode distro that would still let me learn things slowly.

Personally

Arch > Mint > Gentoo > Debian > Ubuntu

Only reason Gentoo isn't higher is because I was honestly too lazy to run both Arch and Gentoo and keep them up 2 date at this same time. Typing 2 commands a day is hard

Ubuntu and its derivatives, because it's the only distribution which gets Nvidia and Optimus drivers right.

No need for a deprecated shit software such as bumblebee.

After playing with linux a while back I decided to give it another go, this time Debian (stable) caught my eye, after playing with it for 1 day I decided fuck it.

Next two options are Mint (Mate version) or OpenSUSE, how come so few people use OpenSUSE it looks pretty legit? What's the major flaw that keeps people away from it, something I should know?
>>
>>52014053
It must be hard to accept that the best linux distros are OSX and Windows clones.
>>
>>52014080
>What's the major flaw that keeps people away from it, something I should know?

It's not really a flaw, it's just that it's tied to enterprise solutions rather than home desktops.

It's one of the first distros that fixed the shitty browser file picker through a patched Firefox, so in my eyes it's top tier.
>>

Lubuntu was pretty nice except for not having USB 3 support. I'm sure there's a way to fix it but that's a kernel level issue so it's a bit more advanced than I want to mess with.
>>
>>52014108
It just makes it slightly more obscure, is all. Despite what some people think, /g/ is made up from consumerfags (Windows, OSX users), ricefags (Arch users), casual Linuxfags (Ubuntu, Mint), RMSfags and then Gentoofags.

OpenSUSE doesn't fit into the categories. It's just another distro, but it's a legit one.

Thanks a lot for clearing things up.
Think I'll give OpenSUSE a try, really liking it from what I've seen.

This meme is already over.

http://news.softpedia.com/news/ubuntu-16-04-xenial-xerus-no-longer-has-online-search-for-unity-7-497706.shtml

Plus, it was already stated that Unity 8 will no longer bundle with Amazon or any other "spyware" shit that could be easily disabled anyway.
>>
>>52014149
I used SUSE on the servers at my previous job for a few years, and the support is great. Having Red Hat behind it makes it really robust.
>>
>>52014150

Unity... Man that thing is the worst part of Ubuntu.
>>
>>52014142

>my opinion is better than yours

Do you realize that other people may like it? This is literally a matter of opinion. If you don't like it just install another DE, this is best part of GNU/Linux.

For me it's clean and usable enough, even though I'd rather use something Qt based.

Yeah, masochists may like it. May as well be using Gentoo at this point.
