You Linux experts. I am a noob. Installed Arch and I have a lot of problems.

>Chrome doesnt work
>Keyboard layout neither
>Dont know how to install computer drivers
>Have no idea how to install most of software via pacman
>Wifi doesnt connect automatically

And some more things, can I get some help in this?

bait?

OP here, Im serious, Im getting mad with this. Im too noob
>>
>>52000641
welcome to the linux experience, google each problem one by one, usually "problem" + "arch linux" works well. if you don't want to deal with that shit, either install noobuntu or mint or simply go back to windows 10 where everything actually just werks.
>>
>>52000700
Its been fun actually, 3 hours just to boot up with some graphic interface, but now nothing more works and their wiki is even more confusing.
>>
>>52000584
Who tricked you to install Arch? the wiki should answer those things. those things are not even the hardest parts, how did you manage the partitioning and so on? not even the wiki answers those things. this sounds like bait. You have to understand computers quite well to come to this point. and those things have a easy tutorial in the wiki.
>>
>>52000752
Ive watched a video for a quick installation, I managed the partitions, swap and root. Do you know any tutorials I can work on?

Best advice is learn some Googlefu as anon suggests.

"Arch [mobo] audio"
"Arch chromium"
"Arch openbox [issue]"

If you got past the vanilla install you can do it.
Remember, you installed Linux to learn.

>arch wiki confusing
bait
>>
>>52000772
the wiki... If you can't understand the wiki then you have a serious problem, the wiki assumes you are a computer expert and don't explain everythin. You should not do this without a couple of years experience. get a normal distro. unless you like being confused, then arch is great for you, it is especially designed for people who wonder how to fix this or that problem. that is how you will spend your next years and it's the whole point of arch. if you want what arch have to offer , but a easy install then you have manjaro or antegros. It's the same, except less confusion.

the arch wiki is shit. it's a miracle that people still is able to use arch. it does not explain anything in any detail and skips steps.
>>
>>52000584
https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Beginners'_guide

Review the network configuration section. And proceed to the post installation page, it should help you set up audio and, install X server and a Windows manager or your choice. You could run the wifi-menu -o command (requires dialog package) to generate your wireless profile and enable it using netctl.

I have literally never had wifi NOT work on arch. Even on a brand new less than a month in production intel wireless card. What the fuck kind of hardware are you using? Something that purposefully has proprietary drivers so that it can only be used on windows?

Also your keyboard layout should default to US UTF-8, so unless you don't have an English keyboard or you bought a keyboard that ALSO has proprietary drivers designed to only work on windows, that should also work OOTB.

Finally, how/why do you have chrome installed when you don't even have internet or X? That's almost impossible.
>>
# pacman -S xf86-video-ati/amdgpu/intel/nouveau chromium

pulls all it needs, no reason not to work
>>
>>52000876
I already had to reinstall to have wifi. But I need to acess wifi-menu everytime i reboot

What DE are you running?
Maybe go for some of the fuller ones, like KDE, Gnome or Cinnamon
did you skip anything?
>>
>>52000859
The only issue I've had with the arch wiki is trying to get pulse working with mpd/ncmpcpp/alsa when multiple sound cards are available(and change numbers on reboot for some reason.)

Everything else is top notch. What issues are you having?
>>
>>52000887
>And they dont explain things the way they should
How so? Partition your drives, mount drives, install base+bootloader into mounted drives, chroot into new system, configure your shit, then reboot.

That's what the non-beginner guide says, the beginners guide just goes into detail about how to do these steps.
>>
>>52000887
Yeah it really does not. I used arch for a long time, but the wiki is so shit and you end up being depended on it so I just got myself another distro. miss pacman/AUR though.

you need dialog to set up wifi like in the livecd

>>

>I have wifi working, I explained here
I see, well then my next question is did you set up a profile to auto connect to your network everytime you boot? Just because you made a profile with wifi-menu doesn't that the service that starts your wifi does it automatically at boot.

>>
>>52000906
Do
wifi-menu -o

It will generate a profile for you. Then use netctl to enable make it start when you boot up

netctl enable profilenamehere

I forget where it saves the profile but the beginning of the name will have the name of your wireless interface, for me it was wlp2s0

So...

netctl enable wlp2s0(press tab key)

Tab key will complete the name For you

I really don't mean to be rude, but the best option for you is look up stuff using google. And the arch wiki.

If you're going to use Linux, you really need to be able to work out problems on your own 99% of the time, and you need to be prepared to put in some work. That's just how it is with linux.

Anyway, I wish you good luck.
>>

the same exact thing as wifi-menu, except with a GUI.

You should probably learn netctl instead or just use wifi-menu until you get X working.

I also installed Mint on an older machine with an ATi card, all drivers were installed automatically, no issues, no problems. It all worked beautifully.

Google and Wiki are only temporary solutions. They teach you nothing about how the fixes work or what to do if new problems arise.

In order to really understand linux, you have to read man pages and documentation.
When you understand ins and outs of your system (from X11, to systemd, to rc files) you'll be able to fix pretty much everything yourself and it also makes you more independent from Google.
