Most retarded thing I saw.

We use those cards at work. Laugh at him for me.
Get a refund, idiot.
Then shoot your friend for being stupid. Or sterilise him, whatever.
Displayport? Buy him some adapters for christmas.

>Most retarded thing I saw.
Is your friend invisible, or did you just not look in a mirror?
>>51998131
Mini displayport I believe.
Compatible cables and adapters aren't that widespread yet.
"Normal" monitors use HDMI and DVI.

I have some hdmi 2.0 TVs (and no new GPUs) and I am frustrated that the adapters have been so slow in coming out.
they're already nominally released, but nobody has any stock.
the only upside is that they'll sell for $30 instead of ~$100 like the old active DP -> DVI-DL ones did.
>>51999168
With HDMI you can go to a store that primary sells fucking refrigerators and get a HDMI cable.
>>51999172
>~$100 like the old active DP -> DVI-DL ones did.
those things are still fucking expensive.
from:
>>51999168
normie-grade DP->DVI-SL/HDMI are cheap as fuck though, since they're all DP++ where the GPU does all the complicated work.
I went to a friend's house and he had a 970.

forgot pic related like a retard

Bullshit

Bullshit
It's just mini DP that's not common, but every MacBook has it, so it's easy to find an adapter.

He is talking about Dual Link DVI.
If you were to use that with a monitor that requires a Dual Link DVI input you wouldn't be able to drive it at native resolution,
You need dual link dvi for 2560x1440 and up.
>>51999358
correct.
this faggot obviously hasn't ever even heard of DVI-I/D/A SL/DL and probably only has the vaguest idea of what UHD or bandwidth requirements are:
>>51999297
this whole thread is either bait or normie-tier worthlessness.
>>51999149
I had to bring a late 2006 iMac to an apple store once,
it took the genius and a manager at least ten minutes to find a mini-display port cable
>>51999358
I'm pretty sure 2560x1440 and higher monitors have displayport though. Even the cheap ones I'm looking at have it, so I'm not sure why you brought this up.
>>51999496
I made a mistake, you're not the one who brought up dual link DVI. So I'm not sure why it was brought up in the first place. Sorry about that.
>>51999496
They don't.
16:10 2560x1600 monitors have existed for at least 10 years in the professional world, they all used Dual Link DVI.
>>51997881
>Give a Half-Height, Low Profile card 4-video outs by using a smaller connector
>somehow the most retarded thing OP has seen
Jesus fuck, what kind of reality distortion field do you live in, where 4, easily converted Mini-Display ports on a GPU is the most retarded thing you've seen.
Fucking order a $12 adaptor off Amazon/eBay/Anywhere and shove off. Need it today? Go to a fucking Apple Store, Walmart, Best Buy, Target, or basically anywhere that might cater to people who own macs, and pickup one from there, return it when your order comes in.
>>51999527
I'll concede that, but again I don't think it is relevant because most 1440+p monitors people are using are not the 5+ year old professional models, seeing as those cost thousands of dollars back then. I guess people could be buying them used though.

for fuck's sake, the other anon was just being thankful that upcoming high-end adapters seem to be cheaper than what used to be required:
>>51999172
>the only upside is that they'll sell for $30 instead of ~$100 like the old active DP -> DVI-DL ones did.
this does look accurate, surprisingly enough:

it's just pathetic that Pascal/Arctic Islands will be out in like 6 months with universal HDMI 2.0/DP 1.3, making these these obsolete for anyone who's not dead-set on keeping a dinosaur GPU in their system.

That still wont work with a dual link DVI only monitor.
>>51999900
no kidding. the point isn't that HDMI 2.0 somehow magically works with DL DVI but that DL DVI was always a hack technology with ripoff adapters and that the most common interface needing active adapters now (HDMI 2.0) won't rape consumers as badly.

If you actually have a Dual-link DVI display, which based on the title, would seem to be the primary reason for purchasing this item, it will not work. Inside is a Parade Technologies PS171 chip which does not at all support dual-link DVI. I have two different displays that ONLY support dual-link DVI, and neither of them worked with this device and either a dual-link or single-link cable - meanwhile the 4k tv worked with EITHER the dual link or the single-link cable.
First review of the product.
>>51999775
I use that but with DP to 3 DP is good
