I'm just learning clojure and things like these are making me scared.
Jvm is pretty great. What happens to it if java gets killed?
And also isn't modren java really good at performance?
Isn't java used in almost every operating system ?

As long as the plugin gets killed in the end, I'm happy. I want 2016 to be the year we achieve a plugin free web that uses only HTML5 and whatnot rather than plugins like java or flash.

There have been some serious exploits for OpenJDK as well, just not as many as for JRE. But anyhow, using OpenJDK will only prolong the existence of Java. We need to deprecate it I say.
