So I've been trying to find a good laptop under 300 for school. Im a poorfag so thats all i can afford. The best one's i can find are 5 year old macbooks. Is there any other option or am i doomed to be a macfag? Pic related

kek, I bought a factory refurbished Thinkpad T420 for $180 a year ago with specs that eclipse that macbook and still hold strong today.
Chromebook or cheap win 10 netbook like a HP Stream.

Get used Acer C710 chromebook on ebay. U can probably find one for under $100. The ram and harddrive are upgradeable. Make sure its the C710 tho because the C720 has soldered in ram.
Then it really depends on your use case. If u are a normie that just needs to browse the web, check email, use google docs, etc then it might be good enough as is.
If u need more power... then upgrade the ram, i think u can go as high as 8gb. And install crouton so that u can run a linux chroot and upgrade the harddrive to like 128GB or whatever else u need.
plus if u can use the chrome remote desktop feature to remote into another computer of u need to run a more powerful program remotely like photoshop etc.
If u want to get really extreme u can flash the bios and dual boot windows and linux and remove chromeos completely BuT from what ive seen if u run windows like this you'll need to use an external mouse and keyboard. You could also try running windows or osx in a vm on ur linux chroot but i havent tried that myself.
But yeah u could end up with a very usable device that is ultra portable and cheap to replace if tyrone steals it or if u break it etc.
Just don't expect it to be a gaming rig or anything but yeah u'd be surprised how much stuff u can do on these little acer C710s. If u get the C720 just make sure to get 4gb ram because it isn't upgradable.
