>tfw just switched from a Celeron M 540 to a Core 2 Duo T7300
It's so fucking fast.
DESIGNATED
Is it 2007?
>>51983330
T7250 owner here.
no its fucking slow.
>>51983434
I'm on Lubuntu. Watching a Youtube video at 720p, not having slow-downs from opening a web page is fucking light speed for me. $53 well spent on this R61 with the 2GB ram, T7300, and thermal paste.

WHOA!
what a monster.

>>51983553
the celeron m 540 gets like 500 on passmark vs 1200 of the t7300, so it is a big jump
Is an 4ghz 8 core amd cpu good for general use rather than my shit i7 2ghz cpu with 4 cores
>>51983330
Yeah, that is a nice little upgrade.
But machines with twice the performance are available for under $100. Why are you settling for technology from a decade ago?
>>51983492
>$53
Should have saved a little longer and/or sold something.
>>51983786
i bought the r61 and the guy nignog'd me by saying it had a c2d in it and 2gb ram. long story short, bought the t7300 and 2gb ram for $7, paste for $.99 and put it all in myself. now i have 2 512mb sticks and a shitty 540 single core that is worth probably nothing at all.
>>51983937
forgot to mention that I paid $45 for the r61
>>51983710
the performance is not solely decided by clock speed and core count

Should have got something like this:

This laptop is up to spec with current OSes.
>>51984026
Yeah, I just really wanted a thinkpad and it was a craigslist buy. i've later bought thinkpads and elitebooks on ebay and gotten much better deals.
>T420 maxxed - $154
>W520 maxxed - $468
>shitty elitebook 2560p - $154
and i keep coming back to this r61
>>51983330
>2 cores
Do you live under a rock anon?
>>51983710
Yes
>>51984092
What do you think of Dell Vostro laptops?
As far as I can tell they are Precisions without the discrete GPU, and use low-powered CPUs.
They seem like a good candidate for someone without the need for gaming or CAD work.
>>51984398
I feel like I've only heard of it a couple of times ever.
how fucking poor are you OP?
Sporting a C2Q Q8200 for 7 years
Its noice
>>51984504
I'm just a huge miser.
>>51984543
all of the laptops I bought in >>51984092, I ended up selling for like $50+ profits just because.
