Aside from speed, is there any reason to use Debian over Ubuntu?

Yes, I know I'm a faggot.

debian keeps their packages more free than ubuntu.

Thanks. Is there anything else?

Not being stapled as a noob.
Also the logo is nice.

Stability

Better for servers than Ubuntu which is slightly more geared for desktop users.
>>
>>51977475
Yeah, that's pretty annoying.

>>51977486
I'm going to be using Stretch, and I'm only going to be using it for the desktop. No server or anything.

Arch is the only acceptable one
everything else is a meme

I don't like the idea of that much updating.

No amazon spyware.

The only good thing that comes from Arch is the wiki. That's it.
>>
Signal, niggers >>51977563
That only applies to the unity version and can be turned off. What you say is true and is annoying, but is a bit more involved.

Debian has less bugs than Ubuntu.

Would debian xfce be faster then Xubuntu?
>>
>>51977532
I would never put Arch on a server. A bleeding edge dev box or VM maybe, not a server
>>
>>51978623
Debian with gnome is plenty fast on non-toasters.
Otherwise I use mate or no graphical desktop environment
>>
>>51977395
Arch
>>
>>51978623
no

Unity is the source of the "Ubuntu is slow" meme (still faster than any windows OS that came out this decade). Otherwise the differences between Ubuntu and Debian Testing are negligible.
>>
>>51977395
Ubuntu, debian is only useful if you want to go full freetard or want a (minor) challenge. Also debian is a pain in the ass if you have obscure hardware
>>

Meme is the only acceptable one
everything else is ubuntu

Gentoo or fuck off.

and this is why I will be forever stuck with ubuntujew and be labeled as a noob even with my riced desktop

arch is a meme

so you're saying pre unity ubuntu was considered fast

there you go buddy

arch is a meme is a meme

I like Debian because I can start with fully open source software and then add whatever closed source software thereafter. It seems better to me than installing an OS that has many closed source packages and then trying to remove them afterward.

Plus, who cares about which distribution you go with. Just pick one with a logo tht you like and offers good community help and go from there. Learn it and then move along to another distribution if you want to.

I use Ubuntu for all my servers anon. It has LTS and up to date packages. Debian may be more stable but I've never had a crash with Ubuntu so feels negligible at this point.

Basically it's almost the same, but you can be more on the bleeding edge with Debian Unstable.
>>
>>51977395
In order to use Debian you must have a huge cock.
