Can't you just install VMware Tools via VMware Workstation? Your error may likely be due to the installation messing up or something.
You could always run Boxes or VirtualBox if it doesn't work.

there is literally zero reason to ever use vmware instead of qemu-kvm on an OS that isn't a joke, since not only is qemu free as in beer and free as in freedom, but also it has better performance and is more feature complete than vmware.

CD worked and showed up after installing open-vm-tools and restarting
Vmware Tools is now successfully installed
Still the main fucking reason I installed it for doesn't work, the screen doesn't fucking adjust !!
