h-how am I doing
this bench surely inaccurate, on geekbench my single core score are higher than fx8150, yet here is marked about 20% slower
>>51950501
benchmarks like these are never 'accurate'

3770K @ 4.8
>>51950624
I didn't bother upping any further, the temp gets too hot.
What cooler are you using? watercooling?
just ran the bench mark thing 5 times, was getting score difference leaping 400-500 points.

also my chip is pretty golden
Breddy gud for an AMD laptop.

Noice. How much do you downclock it to get decent battery life? I have to downclock my cpu to 1.6 GHz to get 2-3 hours on battery.
>>51952216
No need downclock
check C7 state
when CPU is free
(Core in literally 0 volts state)

Interesting. How many hours of battery life do you get web browsing on battery?

Good to know my lowend xeon is i7 tier.
>>51954506
Low end i7 tier.
Also turned out I had something eating an entire core's usage, oops.
>>51954550
That's more like it. I don't even need most of the power to be honest. Just sits in a tiny microserver with a passive heatsink transcoding shit.
>>51954700
How many threads do you have? 20?
>single-core performance
lmao who needs it anyways
>>51954716
Nope. 16. 5960X @4.5GHz
Yay, Xeon.
>>51954749
Your single core performance is disturbingly low.

It's one of these.
I need the dGPU for CUDA prototyping.

Looks like he has all of the threads.
AMD A10 5800k @4.4GHz
5 year old laptop. These numbers are good, right? (Also, does CPU-Z really not support HiDPI?)
Semi related, but do you guys have any overclocking tips? I can't get my FX8350 to run above 4.5ghz without going over 1.5v and I think it's an issue with my motherboard.
I've been sticking at 4.5ghz 1.5v but I want to push it higher.
>>51956504
>1.5v
Jesus what are your temps?
You might just have a mediocre chip, welcome to the silicon lottery
>>51956468
You beat me in multi-core performance with only 2 physical cores. You're good. I hope Zen CPUs won't have such shitty single core performance.
Gay ass ultrabook i7
>>51956524
My temps are actually not bad. Idles at around 20c and never gets above 60c. Every guide I've read says I should be able to hit 4.4 on stock voltage but I was at like 1.4 before I got a stable 4.4.
I'm using the MSI 970 gaming mobo that logical increments recommended but I think I kinda screwed up not getting a better one.
>>51950501
>geekbench
Yeah, OK.
This benchmark is definitely inaccurate, but Geekbench is no better.
>>51956504
Yeah youre VRMs are getting too hot, and you need a better power phase delivery for the CPU. Your almost certainly heat constrained, not ghz constrained per se (silicon lottery)
>tfw beaten by a 6700K stock in single thread performance

4.4Ghz single core,
4Ghz on all cores
HT was on but I did not test the same speed with it off.
Running at 24/7 clock (4.084Ghz single core, 3.9Ghz all cores with HT off) got 1450/7650.
This bench appears to utilize hyperthreading with roughly a 15-18% gain.
There is a 20% performance difference between 4Ghz HT on and 3.916 HT off, which is only a 2ish% difference in clock rate

>>51956712
>>51958412
Wonder why my multi thread is so much lower though
I'd be happy with this if it weren't for the subpar gaming performance.
One of these days I'll pick up an 8320.
>>51958667
Might as well wait for Zen at this point. Two more of the same cores won't do much
>>51958684
Yeah but its gonna require a whole new PC which won't be happening for a while. Plus I'm poor.
>>51958714
So start saving now
You'll need a new mobo and processor, and DDR4 is already cheap and will probably be cheaper by then anyway
>>51958725
I don't plan to be poor for a while, only while I'm in school. Once I'm done next year then I've got my jobs planned out and everything.
At least for the time being this PC does well enough when it comes to games.
Is this normal?

I won the CPU lottery.
It supports practically any frequency at relatively low voltages.

>>51959125
It's not an accurate benchmark. I've ran it multiple times and gotten very different results.
>>51950202
Not super great. I gotta get me an 8350. Them sweet 8 cores for when games are all optimized for it because consoles.
