He uses the very same add-on you've linked, just like a lot of other people that wanted to change their new tab page after the jews in Mozilla decided to remove the preference.
The problem is that, despite Mozilla saying every time that there's some add-on that can replace the functionality they're constantly removing, new updates make those add-ons stop working, like in this case.
