>CISA PASSED
>NO MOTHERFUCKING THREAD ABOUT IT

WTF REDDIT

>In a nutshell, CISA was meant to allow companies to share information on cyber attacks — including data from private citizens — with other companies and the Department of Homeland Security. Once DHS had all the pertinent details, they could be passed along to the FBI and NSA for further investigation and, potentially, legal action. The thing is, critics saw the bill as way for government agencies to more easily keep tabs on Americans without their knowledge. CISA was derided by privacy advocates and tech titans alike, with companies like Amazon, Apple, Dropbox, Google, Facebook and Symantec (to name just a few) issued statements against an earlier version of the bill.

>By sticking CISA into such a huge omnibus bill, there's basically no way it won't become law. And if anything, the version of CISA that was quietly slipped into this budget plays with privacy even faster and looser than the original. For one, a previously held prohibition against sharing information with the NSA has been removed, meaning America's best surveillance agency can receive pertinent data without it being handled by Homeland Security first. More importantly, the provision that required personal information to be scrubbed from cybersecurity reports also seems to have gone missing, leaving that task up to the discretion of which ever agency gets their hands on it. While the federal government has been trying to toughen its stance on cybersecurity in the wake of massive hacks on the Office of Personnel Management and Sony, we wound up with an even more effete version of a questionable plan that will soon become law

I can't see how this can be abused. It's not like the American Government would hack companies so the companies would give them any information they want. And even if they did it's not like they made this bill specifically for this purpose. I doubt the Government wants to know anything about anyone who is a Private American Citizen.
>>
What this means for the average person:

The non-military level law enforcement agencies can now access your ISP records without a warrant.

ISP records typically span back 180 days and contain:

Every website you have connected to.
Everything you have POSTed to those sites.

If you use the HTTPS version of websites, they can only see the domain name.

They can also request your data from any US company, and HTTPS / US based VPNs will be of no use.

What is perhaps even more alarming is not the government access, but the sharing of personal information between private companies.
>>

european third wave feminism is about equality in regards to other areas of life, such as work, education, etc.

american third wave feminism is about aggresively procuring benefits from exploitation of the societal system.

european feminists want equality and tolerance.
american feminists want benefits and respect.

the whole bikinibridge thing was a prime example.

>NO MOTHERFUCKING THREAD ABOUT IT

Why would there be one?
USA is a fucking corporatocracy. It was bound to happen sooner or later.
When corporations have more wealth than a nation,
when corporations create the computers and software your politicians and government officials use,
and when corporations can create private "police/merc" forces, as well as manage your education system (see "Common Core");
then you bet your fucking ass they are going to bribe politicians with that wealth,
blackmail politicians with the spying they can do with the computers and software THEY provided,
and play with the mentality of a nation (education).

Corporations exist for profit and only profit. The End.
Politicians and governments exist in order to bring order and stability to a nation by capitalizing on a consolidation of conflicting ideologies and parties that make up a government.

One is a unified entity driven by one goal with one mean only: Profit through power. And it is always made up of the same individuals.

The other is a divided entity driven by ambiguous goals with constantly conflicting means (ideologies/parites): Stability through consensus (assuming one can be reached) while being influenced by external influences.
Individuals cycle through mandates.

See who prevails over the other and which one has more power.

USA has lost the balance, and most of the government is ruled by corporations.
Meanwhile, both Liberals and Conservatives are sucking up to corporations one way or another.

What better way to prove this than by the fact that people get more jail time and fines for costing a corporations some money (copyright infringement), than they do for raping children and murdering someone.

Might as well just embrace your 1984 future.

You are aware that these were developed by SJWs, right?

"GG" as a concept has kind of died and was universally described by the same bunch of useful idiots as "movement against women" (when it factually was about ethics in journalism whether or not you find it a laughable matter), but there's a lot more awareness out there. We wouldn't get people being so aggressive before and social justice movements have been infecting other media. Currently those who are against political correctness and social justice groups are pretty active and keep fighting it, just not with a hashtag and not making themselves part of a group (maybe a specific community, there are quite a few).

Now when there's censorship, there's backlash. That didn't really happen before just as often.

>>51944558
A lot of third wave european feminists want the same exact thing: to be nurtured and respected, never held accountable for any of their actions, have it their own personal, favorite, most comfortable way at all times if possible, and whenever they end up achieving happiness, look for something that will get them slightly mad. Banning "manspreading" is also a thing they want here, and I think you forget about the whole "are you beach body ready" thing in UK.

Not to mention Sweden. You don't need to say anything else, just "Sweden".

Besides if we're looking for equality in education, why don't we put more men in there? I'm european and most of my teachers were female, and in the early 90s we were taught by the same kind of women of today. I'm not saying we should put more men, but if you're going to implement quotas and try to achieve this perfect equality, don't just look over to one side.

Assuming that if 9/11 wasn't an inside job then the terrorists have accomplished their mission. Why? Just take a look at what happened after 2 (technically 3) buildings fell -- it crushed America's ego and ever since then everything has been spiraling downwards.

The fear, the panic.... the rage building up but nothing is being done about it. SOPA was defeated several years ago and then Edward Snowden came out revealing globally of the truth serum. Even with all this news, information, and social networking to coordinate defenses against the government people have sort of given up.

No one seems to give a shit anymore because the human mind can only take so much cynicism before they lose all hope in trying. The financial system was once the nutrients America needed to sustain growth... but now that it's failed the system is essentially eating its own muscle alive to keep living.... we are that muscle.

America is in a slow collapse and we can only observe it safely from a distance. All empires come to an end... stop trying to hang onto it and go create something new.

So how does this really change anything at all? Technically it was already legal for government snoops to REQUEST information with no warrant. In fact, that's how they get the vast majority of their info in the first place. They just ring up whoever and say "This is Agent Smith with the FBI" and they get whatever the fuck they want.

>companies sharing your info
Again, technically they could already do this. The companies own the information that you have given them, so they are free to pass it on to whoever they want for whatever reason.

If you want to talk seriously about currencies and cryptocurrencies becoming the mainstay, you need to be willing to recognize and discuss real problems facing them. Even if these hurt your arguments, in the real world they do impact the use of a currency. You can't make a convincing argument if you ignore problems with the idea that in a perfect world where bitcoin is already everywhere such problems don't exist, since we don't live in that world. It's easy to make greentexts about goalposts and other shit, but they aren't going to advance the use of bitcoins, or be considered real arguments in the grand scheme of things. The number of places which allow use of a bitcoins as a currency is a real problem, not a fake one made to annoy you.

Jesus christ. If they know your username (which can be found by your real name using the data collected by Google, Microsoft, Apple etc.) they can go directly to, say, Google and just ask them to hand it over. Google will be forced to comply because, by law, they have no choice.

A VPN will not save you. A VPN only anonymises your network traffic along the way, not at the sender or receiver side.

It's an impossible task which is why it's not being pursued. The only active "sifting" that persons will do is in instances where an individual gets singled out by the government, for whatever reason. It will also be simplistic as hell since it's the equivalent of searching through an online database using a program similar to the way google functions.

but the direction the surveillance apparatus is going is pre-crime. That is, an automated system that will target and monitor people based upon meeting character traits. This will ultimately lead to many false positives and "innocent" people being persecuted by the system, and also why the adage "nothing to hide; nothing to fear" is fundamentally wrong, when looked at in context.

Like all of them. It's all well and good for the VPN company to say that they don't keep logs, but they hire out their servers from third parties. There's absolutely no way for them to regulate whether those third parties keep logs beyond trust. This case, for example:

http://www.wipeyourdata.com/other-data-erasing/no-logs-earthvpn-user-arrested-after-police-finds-logs/

EarthVPN weren't keeping logs, but one of the data centres they used were. And if one was doing so, you can bet there are more. Only an idiot would assume that they're completely safe and anonymous just because they're using a VPN.

I agree about destination pre-crime, but while training a convnet or whatever to detect criminal behavior will probably take a while, once it gets going data mass will be much less of a problem and combining it with profiling will probably lower the false positive rate enough to make auto-suing a worthwhile source of revenue for the government

Actually, our forms of government were constructed during a time when corruption was less rampant, and the rules really haven't changed much since. Therefore, corruption in our politics, although present, is (relatively) magnitudes lower than that of the US.

The reason we have such high migration is the left employ a 'feel good politics' that acts regardless of long term damage. This is especially exemplified by the Blair-era of the UK.

>I don't fucking get it. I'm not that interesting and neither are you.
Remember when they told you in first grade that knowledge is power? The more information someone has over you, the more power they have over you. Cardinal Richelieu once said "Give me six lines written by the most honest of men, and I will find something in them to have him hanged". If everything you do and say is on the record, anyone who has that record has dirt on you, whenever they may need it. So anyone who they don't like, they can toss in jail, or at least make their lives a Kafkaesque hell. This is in addition to all the ad-company data-mining that's routinely done to sell people shit. Politicians like that too, they just sell you policies instead of overpriced clothes.

You're interesting because you need to control people to have power. To build on what >>51956143 said about the gun-nut crowd, sure the state could just nuke everything and destroy all those mickey-mouse /k/ommando militias. That's not what they want to do though - they want you alive, productive, and living life as normal, just with caveat that you're submitting to whatever it is they want you to do or believe.

Well, yeah, actually, it is.

From the US Dept of State website, here are some ways to lose your US citizenship:

obtaining naturalization in a foreign state upon one's own application after the age of 18 (Sec. 349 (a) (1) INA);
taking an oath, affirmation or other formal declaration of allegiance to a foreign state or its political subdivisions after the age of 18 (Sec. 349 (a) (2) INA);
entering or serving in the armed forces of a foreign state engaged in hostilities against the United States or serving as a commissioned or non-commissioned officer in the armed forces of a foreign state (Sec. 349 (a) (3) INA);
accepting employment with a foreign government after the age of 18 if (a) one has the nationality of that foreign state or (b) an oath or declaration of allegiance is required in accepting the position (Sec. 349 (a) (4) INA);
formally renouncing U.S. nationality before a U.S. diplomatic or consular officer outside the United States (sec. 349 (a) (5) INA);
formally renouncing U.S. nationality within the United States (The Department of Homeland Security is responsible for implementing this section of the law) (Sec. 349 (a) (6) INA);
conviction for an act of treason against the Government of the United States or for attempting to force to overthrow the Government of the United States (Sec. 349 (a) (7) INA).

(additionally, from my reading when I was getting dual citizenship, voting in a foreign election can jeopardize your citizenship, as can entering the US on your non-US passport)

>The US never made the case that he was ever more than a well-known preacher

warrants are a safeguard. What we want to prevent is someone just saying "Oh, it's relevant to an investigation" and then having your entire online life at their fingertips. That's just begging for abuse of power.

Anyway, who defines who's a "suspected criminal"? If it's the police, congratulations, you've just given them a blank check to harass anyone they want, just by asserting that they suspect they're a criminal, which is something we as a society should not permit, even though it will mean some criminals might go free. That's the whole point of this warrant business, along with due process, rules of evidence, the right to remain silent and the prohibition on compelling you to be a witness against yourself. Men with power will naturally try to increase and abuse it for their own ends. We need to give them the minimum amount of power possible, and restrain them in their exercise of it. Having a complete record of someone's life, along with all the machinery of government and law enforcement, is essentially absolute power over someone. This is why they shouldn't have that data in the first place, since it's effectively impossible to prevent them from using it maliciously, if they have it.

Privacy isn't about secrecy, it's about control. Your privacy is invaded not when information is revealed - because I might want to reveal it, after all. Privacy is invaded when I can't control how my information is revealed and used - to who, when, how, and for what purposes. I can choose whether to be on normiebook. and if I choose to, I can pick what I do and don't post there, who my friends are that can see it, and so on. The government doesn't give you that choice. This isn't to say that there aren't plenty of abuses in the private sector - there certainly are - but the public sector needs to be held to the strictest of standards. Since they, unlike Google, can deprive me of life, liberty, and property.

There may not be a point to a revolution, but they're certainly is a point in revolting.
Think about it. Two hundred years from now, when most of the western world is a dystopian nightmare that makes China look like 1950s America, what will the history books say about today? Will they say how pitiful it was that the great masses just let their freedoms, their very societies, be washed away by the ruling elite?

We are beginning to reach the point where we have very little left to lose. OWS was a sign that there's still cracks in the system that can be blown open. All we need is a big enough bomb. Sure it won't make things better, but it's not like it could make things worse. Would you rather be hated by the powers that be, or ignored? Honest question. I made my choice years ago.
