Try setting ram to 3096 GB
>>
Install Linux.
>>
>>51935708
this ridiculous how is winTV more supported on linux than on windows
baka microsoft
>>
NTSC isn't in use anymore friendo. You'll need an ATSC tuner if you want to pick up more than static.
>>
>>51935788
I just want to plug my gamecube in the aux port
>>
>>51935788

this. What are you going to watch ?

yellow port** lol
>>
>>51935812

It's still a very good capture card. Even ATSC cards are useless since they can only get a few free channels over the air and even then you have to fight with antennae settings and shit if you're lucky enough to live in an area with decent coverage.

Anything worth capturing is on cable TV and cards don't capture encrypted content.
>>
>>51935900
A TV card with a CableCard port will though.
>>
Install gentoo.

It's called planned obsolescence. MS kills hardware support after a relatively short period of time, and hardware manufacturers return the favor by not supporting older versions of Windows for new hardware. Everyone's happy. Everyone that matters anyway.
>>
>>51935811
The thing is, it's not even on the list of old supported analog tuner hardware. I don't see a listing on LinuxTV for that Conexant chip so your only hope is tracking down Windows drivers and software which may limit you to XP unless you can get it running in compatibility mode. You're better off just getting a new tuner. I know Hauppauge has some nice ones with an S-Video / RCA input cable.

Proof that this thing works any better on Linux or are you guys shilling and you have to jump through hoops to get it working?

Because the PVR-150 works on WIndows 7. The only catch is that you have to set your memory manually to less than 4 GB of ram. It's not exactly useless. If you want to use it build a rig like that or just temporarily set the memory to 3096.
>>
>>51936193

Did you install the drivers? does the card show up what message do you get? can you screen shot it?
>>
>>51936194
While I was searching ways to get it to work i found a linux forum and the op was talking about how he got it to work but he didnt have sound
>>
>>51936235
The drivers can't be installed or the exe can't find the hardware
>>
>>51936258

The drivers you have have this name? wintv-pvr-drivers-150-500_2_0_48_25037_whql? what is the name of the drivers file you got?
>>
>>51936235
I am not OP so I did not. The Hauppauge WinTV-HVR-2250 is top tier btw. Works fucking great on Windows and Linux.
>>
>>51936280
pvr-150-500_2_0_48_25037_whql.zip contains
also tried driver85_1_54_32328.exe
>>
>>51936342

Did you run the hwclear? I'm guessing you don't have the install cd?
>>
>>51936359
I did but hwclear is kind of a uninstaller and no I don't have the cd I was doing an internship in a shitty computer store and my boss gave it to me
>>
>>51936400
You tried manually updating the driver with device manager and browsing to the driver folder?
>>
>>51935409
i just dualbooted win2k to get mine to work
>>
>>51936466
yep, nothing is working ;_; thanks for the help though
would a vm with the right drivers be able to use it?
>>51936489
But I want to use it while doing other things on my computer

Did you look on the product code? of the Hauppauge site?

I see 44xxx there in the list. It might be referring to the same model you have?

You people are so stupid,xp in a virtual machinE
>>
>>51936936
I'll try it, probably won't work but would it work with a windows 2000 VM?
>>
>>51936977

Good question. I never bothered to mess with pci passthrough in vm so I have no idea.
>>
>>51936194

Actually Linux is kind of bad about this shit too. Not like MS though. It's just that once active driver updates end, you can expect that hardware to stop working sooner, or later, but they won't kill hardware to force you to upgrade before you are ready to at least. With MS it's about the money. With Linux, who the fuck knows why they do their stupid shit?

OpenBSD is slow to support hardware (and sometimes may never support specific pieces), but once it does, that hardware will continue to work indefinitely, even if no one is actively working on driver updates any longer.
>>
>>51936977
looks like xp vm isnt working either, i'll probably try 2000 later
