How's my first ever PC build, /g/?
i've fallen for some memes, so do your worst. i'm expecting to spend under 1.5k. not sure if it's worth replacing my monitor either with this build (viewsonic 1080p LED monitor)

I'd drop the green and get a 2tb blue, upgrade to a 4690k. And people will shit on you for the 32 gb of ram, but fuck them; get it anyway

32 GB RAM might be overkill
240 GB SSD is overkill if you intend it just as a system drive

This.

Don't listen to the AMD virgins trying to meme at you to not get a 970, OP. The only thing you need to change is get a WD blue instead of green, a 4690 (K version if you know how to overclock, and it's pretty easy to learn).

The 32 GB ram is SUPER overkill, may I ask what you need it for? Because I have 16 GB and people on /v/ and /g/ still meme on me hard for it.

Also you don't need to buy windows at full price.

Why do people pick a 970 or 960? Yeah sure, they werk, but AMD just offers a better product at those price points, depending on location ofc.

Spend the extra money on a overclockable CPU, even if you don't plan too overclock anytime soon, bit in the future, when it starts to bottleneck, you can easily give it a 20% boost, which is like skipping 2 generations.

Avoid corsair.

Replace sandisk with a-data.

You shouldn't be getting an ssd with those cheap components. Dump it use the money to improve your mobo and cpu or gpu. Get a cheaper case
>>
>>51932233
Eh. If it was me id get less ram, skip the cooler unless youre gonna OC (protip: you dont need to), get a smaller ssd/
large hdd, and put those savings toward a better gpu. But thats just me. Frankly that gpu is fine for any modern game anyway, and will be relevant for many years to come, so you might just save your cash. Also I didnt look at your case but I have a feeling its douchey, so pick acase thats less flashy and bulky. Buy a mechanical keyboard

I have no budget, I just dont want to spend money if it's not necessary. What to change? I figured the case can be reused for years on end so I don't mind it being expensive

>>51933110
Enthoo pro is good then. That or h440. How are your Skylake prices? I'd do i5-6500 if it isn't much more. With a 170 board with m.2 64gb it could last a very long time.

380x I dont think is worth it. its slower than an older 280x and about equal to an ancient 7970. Its between the 380 and 390. I might even argue 380 isn't worth it over 270x for what it can do.
>>
>>51933342
Change to a 7200 rpm hard drive. MSI gaming, and Asus Strix are the best 970.
>>
>>51933439
>970
just did some review checks and it seems like this slipped my radar. lots of positives on this one it seems. got the msi, and i think i'll keep the 5400rpm
>>
>>51933439
Could you explain the difference in a 32 GB and a 64 GB cache?
Or is that MBs. I can't remeber
>>
>>51933043

Dumbest advice ever. Get an ssd especially with a low cost system as it actually improves everything drastically .

Ssd is the single most important component in the system. Cpu isn't all that important anymore, any amd or Intel ones do the job now and gpus are so over priced anyway .
>>
>>51933365
i5-6500 is 215 euros, a decent B150 mobo can be had for 90 euros. It doesn't have a network controller though. I don't know if that's important.
>>
>>51933576
This. Get an SSD. 7200 rpm HDD's are the slowest goddamn component in any system that isn't booting off an SSD. Boot drive sized SSDs are dirt cheap. There is no excuse.

Also, don't get a 970. It only has 3.5 GB of actual GDDR5 VRAM and despite the fact that "IT JUST WERKS" at 1080p, it has shown frame dropping tendencies at all resolutions even before the 0.5 GB of slow RAM is accessed, so there is something up with it and it is likely being held together with scotch tape at the driver level by Nvidia.

>it just werks for me AMDpoorfag
Just because you are too stupid to notice that you're dropping frames doesn't mean that you aren't.
>>
>>51933644
I wonder, could you run an OS off of a GPU processor?
>>
>>51933576
>Ssd is the single most important component in the system
top kek m8 I'd never drop below an i5 or r9 390 to get an ssd in a set budget.

Get a SSD boot drive, especially for winblows.
Don't pay full price for winblows.
Don't get a windowed case.
Get a different gafix card (R390 or 390X).

what is this?

The components look good, I can't comment on prices since euros always look high.
I prefer 390x over 980.
Maximus VIII over msi z170a krait probably isnt worth the extra money.
156 eu for a 2tb HD can't be right should be like 80.
http://www.mindfactory.de/product_info.php/Ducky-schwarze-Leder-Handgelenkauflage-fuer-Shine-4--DKSH1408SD-CUSALAABR_998161.html Over g710 if thats available to you.

they just see if the computer works with the selected components and stresstest it. i know, it's horribly overpriced, but apparantly their service is top notch

Zotac Amp! is better than the MSI 980 ti.

Thats a pretty overpriced ssd.

You could probably fit in 16gb of faster memory.
>>
>>51935062
You could bump up to the asrock extreme6 and get a m.2 gen 3 for about 10 euros.

Intel ssds, from what I've seen, are one of the more reliable brands and that's the cheapest Intel ssd.

Hey guys,

I've got about 300 (350 would be really pushing it) to spend on upgrading a rig from a x4 phenom 965.

Do I stick with amd or go intel?

Ideally I would like to pick up an i5 4690k, some heatsink (closed loop preferred because I live a few houses down from the fucking sun) mobo + case.

But that's a lot to ask out of 300 I think.

He does a lot of gaymen shit that uses multiple cores (archeage, GTA 5, etc) so my original idea of getting the G3258 and overclocking it to the moon is out of the picture.

My second plan was to get an 8230 and OC it but that seems to be out of the question too. No microcenter is nearby and Frys wont price match their shit because they won't ship.

Could an i3 put in work? Any ideas?
