FUCK YOUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU

If you know what you're doing, just install Windows 10 (includes Windows Defender) + Malwarebytes Anti-Exploit (free) and you should be good

So no, you don't REALLY need some fancy paid antivirus.

I'm talking like basic free avast.
does it take a big hit on your disk speed? like it has to process everything read and written
I'm gonna have 8 SSD's in raid10, so it'll not be a huge problem though

Obviously it's going to have to scan every file you download assuming you have real-time protection turned on, so yes that's going to make your disks spin (inb4 SSD's don't spin)

If you install some fancy AV and disable all the real-time monitoring shit you'll end up as if you have no anti-virus, except a bit of RAM is used to keep the program running in the background. You seem to have a pretty powerful PC, so you really shouldn't worry about performance at all.

Remember that these fancy AV's are made for people who don't understand that double-clicking "free_sex.exe" is a bad idea, someone like you would probably scan it first and even if it turned out clean, maybe run it in a VM just to be sure.

Also, forgive me for this, but fuck you for buying 8 SSD's then wanting to install a free anti-virus

Seriously dude?

Yes, Avast if you want free.

If you can pay for subscription Kaspersky ore NOD32 is preferred.

The worst is AVG, so placebo even MSE has better screening rate.

If you're a tech illiterate who cant easily
see whats a virus and what not then you need an anti vir
I personaly dont use one

being that I've been into linux since I was 12 (20 now), I think I won't install any sketchy shit. So i'll probably be good.
I just haven't been in the windows game for about 6 years and need it for college and my new job.
I'm just faraid windows is going to get something like people catch airborne viruses lol
