Let's play the 5k game I just invented

> All your tech shit burned in a fire
> You got $5000 USD to spend, what tech do you buy?
> Computer? Monitor? TV? Console? Phone? Tablet? Office Chair? Headphones? Dragon Dildo?
> Whatever you buy must be kept for 5 years, you cannot buy anything else during this period for hardware
> Post the item you are buying and rough but realistic price, if you find a super cheap price for it you can list a link
> If you buy shit used, and roll double digits, 69, 42, or ending with any consecutive numbers like 12, 23, 34, etc then all your shit breaks within 6 months
> Shipping/Taxes don't matter as it's different for everyone, MIRs are honored
> Software not needed

5k is easily enough to get set up for 5 years. 5 years later you have a poorfag rig but i spent maybe ~$600-800 on new parts this year and won't have to upgrade for a while, maybe bits and pieces here and there
>>
Oh wait I just realized also this is the worst time to post this thread cause only fucking people awake are britbongs and aussies so good luck converting currencies

Here's my desktop.
http://au.pcpartpicker.com/p/s38BXL

For phone, not sure what phone I'd be keeping for 5 years but I think I'll get a sony. Rrp is $849 for the z5c.

For a laptop I'll probably pick something that's not too expensive but also not too weak. Pic related.

For headphones I'll go with vmoda earphones and sony headphones. Should be around $150 for the pair.

Can't think of much else I'll be using or needing at the moment. Maybe a power bank for the phone? Idk.

How'd I do?
>>
>>51926985
One heck of a PC I would say. Ate over a third of that budget. I'll post mine in a bit.
>>
>>51927032
I'll be using desktop for video games and movies, and my laptop for everything else. Naturally I'd want something quite powerful.
That laptop should also perform fine for 5 years too.
Only issue is the phone.

My current setup is an i7 870 and gtx 670, and my laptop is a vaio vpcsa28gg with the battery dock.
I've had both of these for a while.

sounds like a fun thread
5000$ = 4601€

CPU: i7 4790k - 337€
MOBO: MSI Z97 Gaming 5 -140€
RAM: 8gb ddr3 1600 - ~40€
GFX: 970 Strix - 350€
HDD: 1TB - ~50€
SSD: 240gb Sandisk ultra ii - 75€
CASE: Define? idk, something like that, will just put in 80€

My current computer.... its still going strong. I don't foresee any change for a while, but I am building a NAS that will outperform it in many ways.

My NAS list (Just need the HDD's now)

Still working on posting the 5k Project.... I have a feeling I am going to be buying a bunch of shit that is way nicer than what I have now.
>>
>>51926281
$5k is more than I currently have in tech you fucking nerd.

OP I'd buy a TV, a laptop, HDMI cables, a console, a phone.

How much money do I have left, because thats all the tech that was burned.

>an office chair is tech

Are you from Kenya?
>>
>>51927109
That's a pretty nice computer, no need to upgrade yet in my opinion.
I'm currently rocking a:
>I7 870 @4.1ghz
>gtx 670
>256gb ssd (i forgot which one)
>2 seagates in raid 0, 1tb+1tb
>fractal design 80* bronze 750w semi modular psu, integra m
>8gb ram (4*2gb)

Everything still runs fine for me.
>>
I'd spend $500 on tech and pocket the rest.

What I would do is
>Computer :
Get the best i7
Pair it with two 980 tis
1080p monitor so those graphics cards will easily rock the shit after few years
>Phone:
Probably a LG V10
As it has expandable storage and removable battery... I'm sure which would be needed in the 5 years time

>Laptop
A gaming one probably for long lasting performance.
Battery would suck though

>Furniture
A bed would do
But probably I'll need a table for pc.

>Others
Now I need weed for the rest of the money.

Probably a bunch of network gear, a TV, and a desktop suitable for Linux gaming and home-server duties.
